Soil help please

On my first grow I started with Fox Farm Ocean Forest, I was disappointed because I wasn't sure about when to start nutrients. Now I'm ready for a second grow and want to start with a basic no nutrient soil. This way I can start a nutrient schedule and always know where I am. My problem is I really don't know much about preparing soil. What should I use for best results? A mixture of top soil, vermiculite, and perlite I don't know. I'll be using a autopot along with advance nutrients micro, grow, and bloom along with piranha, jungle juice, rhino skin and big bud. Yeah, yeah I know I many people don't believe in so called expensive nutes but this is what I chose, so can you help anyway?

A 100% win for soil grown seedlings is Coast of Maine Stonington blend. It is a mild, well built and ph balanced soil that imo has none of the issues of FF. The only thing to watch is as it gets used up it can be a little low in calcium.

That can get you through a month, then switch to whatever you like or begin feeding if you want to do hydro. FF is too variable and tons of issues people have.

I also use pro mix, always have, it's also pH balanced but I also add lime and oyster Shel along with a bunch of Gaia green amendments. Then water only for the whole grow with top dresses at 2,4 and sometimes 6 weeks of flower and you got some 100 % organic chronic.
Or you can just use promix with bottled nutes the whole time, I've had great success both ways

If you want to do soil with all those nutes, I'd recommend just getting the cheapest organic soil you can find, that should have the least amount of nutrition, and then amend that with a generous amount of perlite.

So you wanna share you list? I’m looking into trying a new regimen. I use mills, it works very well, but is a killer at the counter. So I am considering changing and using something more cost friendly

You can just grab some Gaia green all purpose and power bloom mix it in at the ratios on the jug and voila.
I also add need cake, dolomite lime, crushed and flower oyster shell .
Last time I mixed 3/4 all purpose 1/4 power bloom for my soil mixture. Then topdress in flower start @ 1/2 all purpose 1/2 power bloom, next time 1/4 all purpose 3/4 power bloom and last one all power bloom.
If you notice some yellowing still when in flower next time use more all purpose in your top dressing
If you have anymore questions feel free to ask.
There's also some really good threads in organic section on Gaia green you should check it out
Hope that helps

With advanced nutrients you only use the piranha and voodoo juice in weeks one and two. I'm stuck on using it cause I want to improve the roots from the start. Good root structure during veg and good nutrient uptake during bloom. I can only find premix here, and it's over $50! I don't skimp, but that seems too high knowing that I only need a quarter of the package, for dirt! Gotta be a better way. Anything with nutrients in it takes me out a month minimum before I start adding any notes and even then I'm back to square one not knowing how much or when exactly to start. Have you looked in the nurseries lately? Continuous feed for 3 to 9 months and water retention technology! All for under $15, you would think plain dirt would be cheaper.

I appreciate the suggestions, but by the time you pile up a few hundred dollars in nutrients you feel as though you want to use enough to feel like you got your money's worth out of them. I'm deep on the advanced train, and I want a grow exclusively with their line-up. I also have a boat load of dry amendments from my first grow. Pride lands veg and bloom, recharge, cal mag, ph up and down, floralicious, all kinds of shit. Because I used foxfarm I never got to use the pride land's veg. Didn't know what I was doing and by the time I got a clue it was time to flip.

I feel you. It costs me upwards of 400 every time I restock on nutes. That’s my issue

Not often.. I have done three complete grows and am on number four with the mills. N I’m hoping to avoid the next restock if I can find a suitable replacement.
