soil concern

im not entirely sure how long my soil should dry, but im sure it shouldnt stay wet for about a week. i know it drains well and my plant is still showing signs of growth but it seems to take a long time for the soil to dry is there anything wrong?

its probably just a naturally wet soil mix, mine stays wet for a really long time as well

Gosh it's impossible to answer this question without more information. How old are your plants? What size pots are they in? What size and kind of lights are you using? What ventilation or fans are you using? Size of grow area?

my plant is about a month old, 5" pot. using the sun as my light source so my window sill is the area its growing in really.

How do you know it drains well if it's always moist? Does the soil already have perlite in it to promote good drainage?

i tested how well it drained before i planted anything. even if the plant isnt absorbing the water i would have thought that the sun might have dried it?

It might have drained well with nothing planted but maybe the roots of the plant are so tight and concentrated, it traps the water in the soil? When the time comes to transplant, look into adding perlite to your soil in the 1:5 ratio.

Sounds to me like you need to pot that plant up into a larger pot if it's 4 weeks old - a 5 inch pot is likely to be too small. Try a 7 or 8 inch pot and as others have suggested add 10/20% perlite and/or vermiculite to the soil mix.
