Soil/Coco Mix

Hey folks, Im going a different direction this time around. FoxFarm Ocean Forest and Coco mix. Using AN PH perfect nutes.

Im in just FFOF right now for my seedlings, and going to SOil/Coco mix, 50/50 ratio.

Now, I can still water daily with 5.8 PH water? Or do i let it dry out a few days, or let it dry out totally like soil?

Im also adding air pumped air to bottom of my pot. I put a strainer in my pot, then add the medium, so the roots will be air pruned from the bottom, and can also drain the funoff, but roots wont sit in stag water. The idea is to have co2 and o2 hitting the roots for faster growth. I would imagine, I have to water daily like coco so the air doesnt dry out the root system entirely.?

Anyone added info would be great,

suppose possible issue would be ph fluctuation that would need to be corrected when transferred, will cause slow growth, &show leaf symptoms.
i would consider transferring into coco first. using light AN nutes, ph' in your way up to 6.3, then transferring into Ocean Forest/Coco, feeding at 6.5.
worked this on runts taking indoor space needing to flip outdoor kind of situation with great success.

also a suggestion to flush coco at least once lowering the ppms before enter-ing medium soil rich mix medium.
plain RO water ph'd @ 6.5 first week see how it takes it"(where its at), add additives to your liking. i usually feed extra lighly and be switched to bloom phase nutes at this point.
and always dry out soil completely, plants will give you 100 thank yous for your patience.

That's a very good idea, the pump n stone etc is asking for trouble,
When in doubt use KISS
Keep it simple stupid

I prefer peat to coco, because the peat is local, I don't have to wash it , it's a lot cheaper , easy to get in bulk(I usually buy about 30 cubic yards at a time .
Then I add perlite (30-40%) with 10% extras
It's works really good.

With the smart pot , I wouldn't plain on using them from start to finish because they are very hard to transplant out of, I use them only when off to flower , veg is done in plastic .

So my man! Was thinking going 50\50 soil and coco as well.
Whats your thoughts on it almost 1 year later bro??
The way to go, or just stay with soil and perlite?

I did similar. I had success, it was my first successful indoor harvest as well. I used around 50/50 composted cow manure and canna coco. Then added in something like 30-40% perlite after that mix was made. Like a newb, I ran ff trio and a homemade calmag at the time and switched to GH flora trio +calimagic midway through flower. (If you are still new and haven't made the switch, do it. I promise you won't regret it)I started with just PHd water and waited till it asked for nutrients. Then slowly eased in on them till it got a dark green and was growing explosively even after defoliation and training. I ran the plant in a 10gal fabric pot and the last 4-5 weeks of flower I was still having to fertigate it with 2+ gallons a day. I am now trying cocoloco plus canna coco. And it's acting very similar this grow.. I tried this because nobody had solid answers and a few said it can't be done. I wanted coco without daily maintenance as a mandatory if I got distracted. What I've determined is this, if your plants are in the right conditions, growing strong, and you're running a coco based medium. You have to fertigate every day for optimal results. Yes you might get by with skipping a day. But it's not guaranteed. The most I've noticed is having a slightly later harvest date like with an organic soil grow

Ive got the seedling in 50soil:50coco with like 15%perlite and after 2 weeks I plan to re-plant them in soil. im too much of a newbie to play around. I never grew outdoor, 20 yrs indoor in coco.
Had a 2 plants in 100 5gallon coco Indoor till
Jully first, transplanted in FF in 15 an a 20 gallon pot started bye adding cal to R.O, top dressing pridelands 1 x wk an using slf100 an mammoth p now there's pistols hoping for the best
