Soil Changing

Okay, well if i had planted 2 seeds in a plastic (solo) cup and they were both growing...both about 3-4"s...I know I must change them into their own separate pots now, how would I go along taking them out of the cup? would i dig the roots out or would i take a piece of soil along with the roots so i dont do any damage?

Thanks, and sorry this is a stupid question.

lay the cup sideways in your hand and gently roll it with the other hand while applying gentle pressure. then put the stalk between your middle and ring finger and carefully turn the cup upside down. tap the bottom and it should drop out. this is best to do when the soil is firm. not to wet not to dry. i try to leave as much of the orginal soil around the roots as possible. the less damage the better.

Okay, so the end result of that would be i would have all the soil (in the shape of the cup), so then i would gently remove each plant from the soil? I'm just afraid that if i try to take these plants out of the soil, im gunna grab both of their roots while im trying to pull one out and im gunna mess one of them up.

i overlooked the 2 in 1 cup part. sorry. yes remove all the soil in a cup shape. then i would lay it down sideways and gentle break the soil apart. if they are small there should not be a lot of side rooting. but they are very fragile so be very careful. you should be able to get them seperated.

i had two in one 10" pot to start with on my last grow, just spooned one of them out with a ladle and he was okay. so long as you go enough around and deep as not to disturb the roots too much it should be okay

Never ever grow more then 1 plant per container in dirt.Flood tray maybe but dirt never ever. You damage inter twunded roots which causes shock early and increase chances of dying or worst..hermies eeewwww
