these are used mainly for insulation and for reducing thermal heat by deflecting heat away
I'm referring to something complete different, which is blocking IR rays
watch this, should explain this more easily

and here is the differences with and without,
as demonstrated with a similar product; that protein to have similar properties
note the heat signature in the middle pic, and compare with the last one

dude i know what you are talking about...lol

i was just asking. it seems as same shit, different toilet.

i.e. pumps at the hydro store 50 bucks a pop, yet 10 bucks at the aquarium shop. or mylar/poly film 20 bucks a roll at the hydro shop versus lowes for 10 bucks a roll

i would think as long as you have .5 - 1 inch of space between the walls it would work.

i have an old head teaching me about insulation...he claims all those new products are hogwash....insulation is insulation.

no?

keep in mind, just asking learning is always good

cool bro, i wasn't sure we were discussing the same thing
i have inquired about this matter for some time now
and i agree with the old head who's teaching you,
insulation is insulation and there is no replacement for it
and many of the products out there are BS, this one isn't!
i have researched it plenty, this is the only product on the market that works,
these rolls coasts $140 at 4' x 100', don't be fulled by cheap Chinese imitation

i will be insulating my room with prob a 9 1/2" fiberglass insulation batts; on the top and all around,
i may go with 3 1/2" due to coasts reasons (900sqf to cover)

okay obviously you have way more space than I do. So i know why you are going that route

do you think me doing this has helped or harmed my situation?

this is my SOG cab.... i wanted to keep it in a cab to have it mobile.... but i decided to insulate it with the polyshield film and styrofoam

the right side is for mother and daughter (with power below) and the flowering chamber is to the left.

the 'red paint' you see is redgard...its a waterproofer.

i think my big ass SOG grow box is like a fridge.... i can rinse it out and such....(the red gard is some great shit!!!! )

but my question is.... was all that shit worth it you think? will the polyshield work like i intend it to?

i have a 1k for the space (2x4)..... im thinking i might want to look into water cooled lights.... your thoughts?

Just spent the last half hour sifting through all that info. All i can say is holy shit man. Very very nice work, I will def have to read it all thoroughly soon.

LB, I was just reading about this in another thread, and found Al B Fuct's response halfway down the page to be the most helpful.

I'd be interested to see anyone's grow with water-cooled tubes. Never seen them in action except the store.

yea i remember that thread.

I've discussed my plans of an op like his downsized to a cab. Its just after i finally built it, Al has bigger fish to fry....no sweat though

i think with me insulating my cab my temps can be stable...i just have to get them there first. i didnt use the polyshield so much for IR heatsig reduction ...but im sure it does help a helluva lot....

fuck paying $2,000 for a premade bullshit cab....build the cab yourself and lace it with $2,000 worth of accessories :)

it really depends on what your trying to achieve with the polyshield
is it IR isolation or thermal heat isolation
not familiar to much with the polyshield properties
it looks like its more suitable for thermal shield which will reduce your IR sig
but will not eliminate it

nice thread:clap:

id suggest to stay away from water cooled tubes at this point of their evolution!
they have one main flaw!
the first second the chilled water reaches the tubes
there is a chance and actual cases of the tube cracking

mannnnn i've been reading about that hydro-innovations icebox...

that is one slick device...

you dont even like that huh?

I have a question about air cooled reflectors. Now I know this is probably a stupid question in that it has been asked many times but i saw cooled reflectors had been brough up so thought i would chuck this out there.

If I had only one intake and one outake could i split both the ducting so that it went through a reflector? Im looking at a 700m3-1000m3 exhaust fan and something a lot smaller for the intake. The room is only about 3x1.5x2.5 (LxWxH) meters.

Any help would be appreciated.

as long as you place your fan after the split, i don't see why not
Ok thanks :D

I was just hesistant because i wasnt sure wether the suction from the fan would be to weak or un even if i had it going into the room and into the reflector.

You should install an adjustable damper to control this. They're just a flap of metal in the duct that you can use to restrict flow from the side that's moving too much air, thereby forcing more air flow from the other side.

Hmm thats very intriguing, I have decided not to bother with air cooled for the moment but im still gonna need some ventilation for the clones/mother and possibly vegging area. So will defo look into these dampers.

Thanks :D

My first attempt at SOG with 2 DIY 3 X 8 E&F tables. Each table holds 80 plants (x 2 = 160 total) They go in 40at a time from my DIY aero cloner at 2 week intervals (sp?). Trying to do some Blue Berry Lollypops. Next batch will be a mix of Buble gum,Aurora,THC Bomb,N. Lights and Blueberry X N.Lights. What cha think?

Thanks for the Kudos SOG... I only wish I had built the room sooner and went to SOG. For the last year I had a DIY 60 bucket hydro setup in an upstairs bedroom for veg and flower and a 11 bucket setup in a walkin closet for mothers. But got tired of walking upstairs all the time and at least once a month i'd find a water stains on the ceiling down stairs. Heres a cpl pics of my old setup I built. Pain in the ass lugging all that shit upstairs and then tearing it apart and lugging it down stairs. Guess old age is catching up with me. (In case your wondering...my first pet was a T-Rex..LOL):bigjoint:
