SOG from Seed

Hello Everyone. Well I'm nearing the end of my second grow, and wanted to get started on the next. I'm debating on having 2-3 plants lsted, or an SOG from seed. Not sure about the lsting because I don't want to end up with big male bushs. lol Has anyone ever done a SOG from seed? I'm planning on using 2 liter bottles for pots. How long will a plant thrive for in a 2 liter bottle? Will I have to do a 12/12 from seed or can I veg for a few weeks? Also, if I do veg, I have a small problem with heat. Can I leave the door open during the 6 hours of no light during veg? It will be almost completly dark, but not pitch. I've got I more Q on harvest. I have a 10x magnifine glass at my disposal, but unfortunately, thats all I have. I am at 41 days flowering and about 10- 20% hairs are orange. Can I put my girl in direct sunlight and hopfully see this amber tint everyone sees when it "looks" done? Alot of Q's, I know, but any help is appreciated.

ok.Lots of questions, let me see if Ican help.If you LST your plants, you may/may not end up w/bushy males, but I like mine big,so I use it all the time.Never done SOG from seed, only clones, but for one,I dont know how big you want to go,but it wont be too big in 2 litre bottles, maybe 2.5ft,but it may trap the roots,so I would use pots. You can veg at the start for a couple of weeks, but you want to keep the cycle going after that,so two wweks is about the max for veg.As for heat,it's perfectly acceptable to open the door during veg,I've done that,as well as setting them outside during the day for years with no ill effects.Light cyccle only gets drastic at flowering, but you know that. When you get 40% cover ,its time to start cutting, not before or the wont finish.Hope this helps a little....

So you mean until at least 40% hairs turn, or 40% amber trichomes? I've been pretty lucky these last 2 grows as all seeds sprouted and were all female. Should I just take my chances again cuz I got an MH I would like to put in action. How long does it take to get a good bush with several tops? Thanks for your help Luvvin! + rep.

trichs at 4%-50%,good time to cut,the rest will mature during drying/curing,and you wont be on the couch all the time.lol.A good bush for me goes 6 wks veg, with lst once a week, and topping twice.Average plant size,(no moms) runs 30" trunk diam 2" to 3",and about 15 to 20 chutes.

Awsome grow Scyntra. Thats what I'm looking for if I go with an SOG. My only problem is having unknown seeds. Don't want to put a sativa dom. in a 2 liter bottle and try and take it all the way. As for LSTing Lovvin... I'm quite interested in this. On average what kind of yields do you get from 1 girl? How big of pots do you use? Thanks guys, and heres some rep for an awsome grow, real nice setup bro.

Ok. quick Q, don't wanna start a new thread. As you know I'm about 1-2 weeks away from harvesting at least two girls. As soon as their hung up I wanna get started on the next. I problem... I have a sativa dom. girl that won't be ready. Its mid August, and I want to know if I can put my girl outside to finish? Will it adapt well? By the time she goes out it might be early September. Oh yeah, alot of stray cats around here, will they eat my buds as a sub. for catnip? lol Fuckin cats.

you can put her outside and she should be fine on the change to outdoors. only problem is how far along is the plant into budding and will it have time to finish before winter hits wherever you live? as long as it has time to finish it should be fine..

as far as cats, well never had a cat eat a outdoor plant that I can remember. a deer, fire ants, mice, grasshoppers, squrals, rabbit yep no cats..lol..a trick I found that works to keep wild amimals away, I know it sould gross but hay it works.. dig a hole a few feet from your plant. take a 20oz. drink bottle and pee in it and bury it leaving just the top sticking out of the hole and just sit the lid on top >>>do not screw it on<<<

another for wild animals while Im thinking about it take a bar of soap (somthing very smelly) drill a hole in the center of the bar and place on a branch an some neerby tree/bush. ....I had a deer hook a bar so badly one time I do not see how it stayed on the tree ( I meen 100's of little holes from his antlers) but he stayed out of the patch ;-) .....pro tip > change the type of soap used every week or so..that way they wont get used to it..

sogs alota work espeacily in 2lt bottles.. they need to be watered often and depending on how many, could be a bitch of a time.. check my journal.. i supercropped and i have the same efect as a sog with out all the hassels.. theres 12 sog clones in there u will see and i have to water them twice as often as the rest of my crop.... sooo many ppl have thought its all a sog do to the supercropping technique.. theres a thread on that in there as well... oh and if u were planin on doin a sog from seed, it cant really be done.. not a true low veg sog anyway, a perpetual grow yes but not a true sog... i guess u could try, not sure how it would turn out but i bet it'll be costly buyin all them seeds.. gotta clone them for that.. good way to weed ur males out aswell

well I have mine in clear plastic storage tub that are about 1" taller than my bottles and can get 15 to a tub, so I have 15 plants per stage of budding X 3 stages , 3 weeks apart (9 week strain) there all the same and I water each tub all at one time so it takes no longer then mixing my nutes and dumping in a few gal. of water into a tub..oh less then a min. to water 15 plants. every 2-3 days (dependent of what week there in)... seedlings are sexed and males are discarded except extraordinary ones that are used for breeding (growing in a separate area of course)...

and you are so wright about not being a "true SOG" but if done right you can get a nice perpetual grow that keeps going and producing bud at regular intervals just like a SOG..just like you would to get a perpetual harvest from autoflowering strain..

as far as seed prices. get the set up going with some bagseed to work out the bugs, when its a finished nice set up> buy a 10 pack of a true breading seeds > get to work breeding > have a few 1000 seeds for the next 2-3 years of growing...

all the power to ya but y not clone ur plant?? instead of makin seeds... i hear ya if ya wanna take time off inbetween but this way u can order 1 seed make it into 100+ clones and keep switchin up ur strain if u want instead them same breed.. u could still veg ur clones and make perpetual intervals with them and they would be ready for flowering much quicker then a seed... i guess then u get to experience the breeding side as well... but its ur grow...

now I have done the mother / clone thing in the past and sure I will again sometime in the future. but breeding seed can bring good surprizes and I like the suprize of guessing there sex..lol..

with the my breed I know how just how they will grow, bud, nutes, ect no guess work at all ( I could water/feed my plants with a blindfold on..lol..) but at the same time there is small differences in taste and such here and there thats a nice change sometimes. like a few years back I had 1 plant that smells and taste just like roses it was soooooo good and smooth.. everyone that tryed it loved it so much that I reveged it and breed it, backcrossed, cubed, and inbreed it over and over and have got it to the point now that its about 90% rosie with those seeds. same strain just a totaly different smell /taste (breeding can be fun!!!)..

I veg. for a week ( there 2-3" tall, 4 sets of leaves) > bud for 9 weeks. my plants go from seed to smoke in around 70 days total.

now I do grow other strains at time as well (usualy don't run full anyway) like right now a have 4 white skunk and 1 cal. hash plant going, along with my breed..thinking about breeding the hash plant with a rosie male and see what happens..mine don't branch much and the hash plant is a bush..lol..no telling what I would come up with..lol..

Hey Guys. Thanx for all the advice. The thing is, I don't think I'm ready for an actual strain so I'm still doing bagseed. I would clone, but don't have any other space available to do so. I think I'll realy start investing once I'm setup at the new spot, but until then just trial and error. Its day 52 of flowering, I picked off a small bud 2 days ago, let it dry properly, now in a small jar. Well ran out of weed today, so I decided to test some. For only 2 days off the plant, the taste is great. The smell still grassy, but very stoned indeed. Anyways, hairs are 75% orange/red, I know you donlt go by hairs but I'm planning on harvesting in about a week. Most of the fan leaves have yellowed and died except for a few up top. My buds have recently started to foxtail, probly due to heat problems. But lower buds are realy reaching out because of this. Think thats it for now. Thanx for your help guys. Late....
