So...you can't transplant Autos?

I used to regularly plant straight to 5-7 gallon pots. The problem is most new growers don't know how to leave thier plants alone.

I would mix my soil and fill pots. Water the pots and let them sit for a bit. Stick a seed in and leave it alone.

Sometimes they wouldn't need water for the first few weeks. No joke.

To each thier own.

That's what I'm doing... I learned my lesson the hard way... I lost a nice plant from overwatering already... I brought one of them back though... I'm still waiting to find out what it is... it's 44 days old now... I might be leaving it in the light for too long...it's short as hell too.
 
I'm trying to get sixty people to use the coupon code jenny on mars-hydro.com and i can get a free light... It sounds like a lot but I don't think it will be that hard to do... I just want to try out the light to see if it really works like they say it does!!!shit,I'm broke as a joke!!! If I can get it for free,I'm ahead of the game!!!and it would solve a lot of my
heat problems... Those cfls get it hot in that tent!!!somebody told me that they got one from doing it,so I'm going to try as well... maybe I can step my game up to another level with that light!!!

10 gallons is over kill. After about 5 gallons the extra soil isn't worth the extra yield.


I haven't seen that. Auto or photo. Plant a seed in its final pot and one in a solo cup. By the time you hit flower the one inn the final pot will always be bigger.

I'm not saying transplanting an auto hurts them. They will get bigger planting straight to final pot.

Of course they’ll grow bigger in their final pot, I was referring to the fact if you transplant them from a small pot to a bigger pot before or at the very beginning of flower they will get a good bit larger compared to keeping them in the same smaller pot.

Of course if you go from a small to larger pot they will get bigger.

I'm saying take, lets say, 7 gallon pots. Start one in the 7 gallon and start one in a small cup or pot and step it up as time goes by. Veg them the same amount of time. When you hit flower the one in the final pot will be bigger. Probably finish bigger as well.

I moved away from one or two plants at a time. I run a mini perpetual now. I start them in solo cups and then move to a ine gallon grow bag and then transplant to about 3 gallon pot right before flower.

Either way works depending on what the goal is.

With autos I prefer to plant straight to final pot. Its possible to transplant them but I figure why risk it. Especially if one follows the guide of transplanting at 7 days. The cup isn't full of roots by then and its easy to damage the roots if you let the soil fall apart.

At one time or another I've done about everything that's not supposed to be done with cannabis.

I've even topped autos. Most handle it just fine and a lot of them will yield more from it.
 
3 weeks from germ and 2 from transplant. The Alien Vs Tri are both 22" and both Ripleys OG are 17". On my last run of autos I planted the seed in the finishing pot and this time they are slightly ahead despite being transplanted. As some have said..and also according to the mephistos grow guide...when done correctly there is no downside to transplanting..and no reason to start a seed in the pot it finishes in.

Thanks Frank! For 2 weeks or so all they saw was Biobizz light mix and tap water. The soil is tiered in the grow bags, so the roots probably were will beyond the Biobizz by the 14 day mark. The lower portion of the pot is FFOF, which of course contains nutrients itself. I started feeding Gobox nutes at 1/2 strength at around day 14. Mid week I gave a full dose of Gobox nutes, just one gallon total between four 5 gallon grow bags, and the result was instant. Within a few hours they exploded. I'm picking up the grow bag and judging by weight if it needs water or not. Everything might be a little damp at the moment though so I have fans running to dry things a bit.

Sure! but I highly recommend the mephisto grow guide as a lot of the stuff I'm posing here is based on it..well..I follow it as mush as is possible and convenient anyway. It just about guarantees outstanding results if followed somewhat closely. They recommend starting auto seeds in a lightly amended soil like biobizz light mx. It makes perfect sense...to me anyway...as I germinated 4 out of 6 with FFOF but 4 out of 4 with biobizz Light Mix. The seedlings also developed much faster in the biobizz. There's a section about using the tiered approach in the grow guide. It's well worth a read if you are new to growing like I am.
