So many questions... so little time.

I have a lot of questions, so I will try to break it down so they are easy to answer.... This is going to be a run to waste system for the fact that I cannot seem to keep a reservoir clean and healthy for more than a couple of days! Here we go!

1. Pots. I am going to have 45 clones in a 6x3 tray with 2- 600w hps lamps on them. I plan to veg for 7 days and flower for around 50-60 days. Am I good with 1 gallon pots? Should I get bigger/smaller ones or stick with those?

2. Coco brand. There are many forms of coco, I believe the best to be canna coco, I have used a few kinds and found canna to be the best and most "pure". Are we all in agreement that canna is the best or am I missing something?

3. Mix coco. I have read some people getting better results using a mixture of coco/perlite or coco/hydroton and some people doing better with PURE coco coir. What are your thoughts on this? Should I mix 50/50 hydroton/coco, 25/75, etc. Or is pure coco the way to go?

4. Nutrients. I have floranova bloom, and I have micro and bloom flora series nutes already. However, I would happily buy different nutes if recommended. I have heard good things about Pure Blend Pro + Cal mag in coco. I have also heard to stay away from canna coco A+B for it has deficiencies. What nutes should I use and should I get anything such as hygrozyme etc to go with them? Also, what feeding schedule do you recommend for veg/bloom.

5. Reverse Osmosis. I have an RO filter, should I use it? My tap is 260ppm and has a PH of 8.1 so it might be a good idea to use the RO.

6. Feeding Schedule. I am trying to make things easy as possible on myself, so what nutrient feeding schedule should I be using? Should I feed every water at low strength? Should I feed ever other watering/every 3rd watering? Should I be flushing them on a regular basis?

7. Ph. What should the PH of my water be when feeding the plants? What should my runoff PH be? Also, what should the ppm be of my feed water be? What should the ppm of the runoff be?

8. Tips. Please provide any additional tips and any info that you think is important for me to know. I have grown in coco before with decent results, but I am looking for better than decent results this time around

The 1 gal will be fine. A week to veg will keep the plants smaller.
2. Coco brand. There are many forms of coco, I believe the best to be canna coco, I have used a few kinds and found canna to be the best and most "pure". Are we all in agreement that canna is the best or am I missing something?
Most brands are pretty similiar. The only difference I see is drainage time and water capacity.
3. Mix coco. I have read some people getting better results using a mixture of coco/perlite or coco/hydroton and some people doing better with PURE coco coir. What are your thoughts on this? Should I mix 50/50 hydroton/coco, 25/75, etc. Or is pure coco the way to go?
I use ReadyGro Mix which is Coir/Perlite mix. Works great and have no probs.
4. Nutrients. I have floranova bloom, and I have micro and bloom flora series nutes already. However, I would happily buy different nutes if recommended. I have heard good things about Pure Blend Pro + Cal mag in coco. I have also heard to stay away from canna coco A+B for it has deficiencies. Dont use pure blend pro, I used it and all the organic ingredients caused a lot of problems (Brown slime and PH fluctuations). Yes get Hygrozyme, use from the start.. It does wonders.
5. Reverse Osmosis. I have an RO filter, should I use it? My tap is 260ppm and has a PH of 8.1 so it might be a good idea to use the RO.
My tap water is 480ppm, ph 7.9....and it does perfectly fine. If you were worried about cal-mag deficiencies....your tap water is a great source of both. Since you are seeking perfection, try the RO.
6. Feeding Schedule. I am trying to make things easy as possible on myself, so what nutrient feeding schedule should I be using? Should I feed every water at low strength? Should I feed ever other watering/every 3rd watering? Should I be flushing them on a regular basis?
Im assuming youre doing ebb and flow? I increase flooding from 3 times a day to 6-7 times after they get bigger. Yes, when you change out nutes, flush the plant with tap water. If youre talking about hand feeding...feed every watering at 1/4 to start, then increase gradually. You will need to flush more often if hand feeding.
7. Ph. What should the PH of my water be when feeding the plants? What should my runoff PH be? Also, what should the ppm be of my feed water be? What should the ppm of the runoff be?
ph 5.8-6.2. If you stick to the instructions for nute solutions on the bottle, you dont need to know the ppm. Just know what color green you want. Usually the darker green they get, the cloer you are to the max ppm.

Cant think of any...

Thanks for the input. Trying to gather some knowledge on coco, I really appreciate it.

Paradox
Yes, 7 days is adequate, possibly more than I need. You read that I have 45 plants in a 6x3 area right? That is OVER 2 plants per square foot! I would actually be just fine with NO veg time, but I always like a little bit...

If you are interested in a post I made on another topic about veg time/yield etc, I posted below.

(if you are using artificial lighting).

The reason I grow MORE smaller plants under artificial light is simple. Greater yield for the time spent. Quicker finished product.

Think about it. If I take 50 clones, veg them for 7 days, then flower them for 60, and yield 2lbs under 1200watts. I have pulled 2lbs off in 67 days.

Take the same strain 10 clones, veg them for 2 months, then flower them for 60 days and yield 2lbs under 1200watts.

You get the same 2lbs with 10 clones grown big, but you took 120 days to produce it!! You can have the same weight and possibly BETTER quality in HALF the time.

No to mention, you are MUCH more likely to pull 2 lbs from 1200watts with 50 plants than you are with 10. Let's face it, you can make much better use of every watt of light with more plants than you can with 10.

We also end up using much less effort. We take less time, less work to train plants etc to use up all available light and in the end, I only end up chopping up 50 BIG colas instead of thousands of tiny buds.

You can definatley argue the points I have made, but it is simply my 2 cents.

On the RO unit point, I've used RO water and regular tap water and noticed no difference between the two. I read that RO water is good for germinating seeds but again, I've used the both and noticed no difference, I think it just depends on the quality of your tap water. My brother keeps marine fish so has all the testing equipment, and he says our water has high chlorine levels but thats it, so I just leave my watering water out for 24 hours with no lid on it to evaporate the chlorine (and to reach room temperature), it works just fine for me. As I said, I think it just depends on your tap water.
