Yep!!! Me too. Bit a lot of times it falls on deaf ears. You know what they say about horticulture...........................You can lead a whore to culture but you can't make her think!!!

I still will use molasses for hydro when I do grow hydro......I like the taste it gives the buds.....
Well then you are an idiot and i think you should go pick up a book and read it, instead of the internet.
What your saying is ludicrous and borderline retarded the molasses has NO EFFECT on the roots ZERO, the plant doesn't even see it. It is as simple as that....

Sutra, let it go. If it gives him a warm fuzzy........................so what? It's his system he'll be cleaning. See my post above!

.......I am the idiot lol you need a hug my friend........I never said anything of it having any effect on the roots.......read my post thoroughly you might stop talking out your ass......

nothing gives me a warm fuzzy feeling like hearing dumb asses that haven't even tried something but want to bash on others that have actually learned by trial and error...you can try and quote all the books you want.....I have tried it read it.....all the above

molasses adds flavor and makes your buds taste different period.....after who knows how many grows (I lost count) with molasses in my res and 0 problems.......but I am the idiot commenting on things I have never tried....lol

get off the computer and go try something...... give me a hug

The point is you don't have to put the molasses into your reservoir to gum up your system. All you're doing is feeding the bennies. Search for a tea making thread. The molasses isn't adding flavor. Maybe the beneficial bacteria is, but the plant doesn't directly use the molasses. All it is doing is feeding the bacteria, and the bacteria in turn helps keep your roots clean.

I may not know exactly whats going on when I add molasses to the reservoir but whatever it is the buds taste and smell different.....I have tested this with many crops since I run 3 separate reservoirs it's easy to do side by side comparisons in a controlled setting......I have used all the other bottled sweetners/carbs...and most have molasses in them too......every one of those will give your buds a different smell and taste..........I have tested each many times....anybody can tell me no until their mouths fall off or fingers cripple from typing over and over but I have seen the results my self over and over many times.........people used to swear the world was flat.........even wrote it on stone........

i used to use molasses in hydro but it created almost as muhc foam as dishsoap. it maybe good for beneficial bacterial, but its also good for bad bacterias and can attract pests.

i no longer use it and am planning on giving my gallon away that i have a lot leftover.

Anyone out there use GH Floralicious Plus? Pretty sure molasses is one of the ingredients.

As others have mentioned you are feeding the beneficial biologicals. They eat the complex sugars and break them down. The waste products of the beneficials are then available to the plants. You guys are adding beneficials to your hydro systems aren't you? I certainly am. The beneficials are intended to keep a natural balance in the reservoir as well.

Beneficial Biologicals
Make nutrient absorption possible even under high salt conditions!
Break down nutrients into forms that can be easily absorbed by your plants!
Increase the amount and type of nutrients that can be absorbed.
Keep essential nutrients available.
Aid in the prevention of diseases and pests.
Prevent nutrients from leaching out of the soil

With all of that in mind it makes sense why adding molasses makes a difference in the root zone, and thus the final harvest.
As long as you have a starter colony of beneficial bacteria the sugars will be broken down and converted into useable nutrients for your plants.

It is really the same idea as a fish tank. People add starter colonies of beneficials to help get the waste eating bacteria going prior to introducing fish.
It keeps the water chemistry under control allowing a virtually closed system. With the introduction of only small amounts of new water to account for evaporation
you can keep a healthy tank alive for years.

The "Sweeteners' on the market have sugars in them. Everyone buys them up like they are going out of style.
With a simple dilution of molasses you can keep your beneficials alive and see better results. Without the sugars the ben's die. Without the ben's the plants are not as efficient as they can be.

If your ben's are healthy and thriving THEY will kill the bad bacteria. Survival of the fittest, and most populous. The key is just having the right bacteria in higher amounts than the bad bacteria. If the bad ones move in with nothing to control them then of course they will take over.
I guess the bottom line is this.
If you add molasses: Add beneficial biologicals.
