So I've cured for a month, first time for curing...

...and I am kind of disappointed. The smoke is potent and not harsh, BUT...it looks, smells and tastes like mexican brown dirt weed. No "skunk" smell or much of any smell at all. Most of the bud I get from the dispensary is still green but not harsh, and really has that bud smell.

Is this how curing is supposed to be, or did I do something wrong?

sorry to hear that... did you keep it in darkness because light degrades the th and i think turns it brown but no its not supposed to work out that way. PIX?

If it looks and smells like dirt weed, then you either screwed something up or were working with bad genetics. Curing won't change the appearance of the bud, maybe the color slightly, but not the overall look. Got any pics of the grow or the end product?

Agreed. IME the longer the cure, the more the smell tends to mellow. It doesn't go away, it's just not as pungent as before. My guess is the genetics are the culprit.:weed:

you should be using a glass mason/canning jar with an airtight lid. I had the same problem when i first started growing. I was using airtight ziploc plastic containers, the containers adsorb the smell of my weed, ad my weed smelled like shitty plastic/schwag/ and other crap thrown in that mix. Really wasn't pleased, now i use glass jars and everything is cool

Yup, I had some old bud that was beautiful looking FIRE sitting in a jar that did not have a rubber seal. I opened it after a few months, I forgot it was in there, and it had turned to brown bud. It still smoked pretty good, but it looked like crap!

I used Kerr jars with the rubber seal. Smell may be genetics....After harvesting and hanging the branches for a closet dry before jarring, the smell was gone within a day. Pure sativa plant, so I didn't really expect a skunky smell. But it gets ya fucked up and is great creeper weed, so all good
