So I'm Trying to Make a LED Panel

Sorry I've been drinking a little bit. :)

What I mean is I'm looking for a cheap but quality and effective way to extend my area I can cover for growing.

So right now I'm work with 8+ feet in width/length for a grow space, but only 28 inches in depth. So imagine growing in a hallway.

My 600w HPS can cover a 4' x 4' area, I can only use 4' x 2' of that because of the "hallway" closest I'm growing in.

If I can get some LEDs in there, I can get more money back.

Yeah?

OOOOOOOOOOOOO I SEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE. SHEEEEEEET MANEEEEEEEE.

How obnoxious of me right? :dunce:

If this be business and business be scheduled for the long haul, take the time to weigh out all options before making any definite moves. I do, however, agree with your reasoning behind the Vero 18s. It's where I started.

If I can get some LEDs in there, the reason for the thread, to add another 2' x 2' area extend onto my 4' x 2' cover by my HPS, making it a combo cover of 6' x 2' of LEDs and HPS lighting, I can get more money back.

Yeah?

It takes less than a week to get a cobs from digikey and psu's from jameco.

Buy once cry once as they ssy

I was looking at the 4kK, so makes sense why it's more efficient

I'm working with the same set (4K). I ran an efficiency of ~36% at 1050mA, under ideal conditions. The COB is running @28.3V and 1037mA. The flux output at 100% for a V18 4000K is 3990 lm and I chose ~.85% efficiency due to amperage and temperature. I used 320 Lumen/W for LER.

I still think your numbers are a little high, as I'm running numbers at a considerably lower current.

(121-(121*0.05))/320

At 50c you only lose 5%.

Ah. I spotted my mistake in calculating your solution. I wasn't giving your equation the proper relative intensity factor, which I eventually gave 1.25.

While I believe my efficiency at the lower current is slightly higher than yours, you do pick up a few extra watts of spectra and additional heat. I'm curious, what voltage was your V18 running with?

Im just working with data sheet values instead of actual. Bridgelux already provides a lm/w figure. I haven't the foggiest what mine are at.

Alright it's been a couple days haha. I need to get this build up and going yesterday.

I'm picked Vero 29s for the COBs. Artic Alpine 11s for cooling each of them. Just some basic 50w waterproof drivers from Amazon. 18 awg for wiring up.

Does that sound like a good combo? Think I need anything else?

I already got the little stuff like power supply, solder and soldering iron, thermal compound, ect.

I believe you are ready for the crafting stage!

What is the voltage and current output of your drivers?
