so i hear mixed things

i just turned my lights off on my plants for the first time to set them to flower. i have heard some people say that its best to start on 12/12 right away, i have heard others say that u should keep the lights off for something like 36 hours before u turn them on to show the plant u mean business. any thoughts on this? also, as a side note, what kind of lumens am i lookin at for a good flower? soft white yes? thanx guys

I let mine sit in dark for a day or two...

I start counting the first morning after 12/12.

Lights out morning = Day 1 for me.
