So I broke my roots....

Hey guys & gals,

I recently purchased a new light which apparently is kick the snot out of my old one. How do I know?

My usual method was sprout, plant, wait 2 weeks then transplant into home pot.
Usually when I transplant (I use the same pots) I can dig my hand down and pull up the whole root system and then place into her final home.

Well... My new light is kicking the old ones behind and instead of my normal root system - it is now about 3x larger than before and using my old method.... Well I snapped the roots off about 5 inches down.

I transplanted 5 days ago when breaking the roots but now she is back. All perked up and after a few days to recover, is now producing new growth. Great! Right?

Well... I know nitrogen def. can cause lower leaves turning yellow and dying off.

My girl's first textured leaves (not the smooth leaves) are turning yellow.

I'm hesitant to start nutes as I use FF happy frog and it has nutes in there which usually last me about 7-8 weeks with just PH'd water. I transplanted into a much larger pot so she has more nutes available in the larger pot.

Could her yellowing be because of the root issues? Like I said, I'm a little hesitant to start feeding her if this is only due to the root problem.

Any advice would be appreciated.

Strain: White Widow Fem.
Indoor
Soil - FF happy frog (as the OF kept burning my plants - they seem to lovee the happy frog)
Mars ll - 400
Only 1 plant under this light
3 weeks from seed (20 days to be exact)
Nutes: *not being used right now: Botanicare

Also... I have an R/O water system in my home... Would it be better to use just PH'd tap water (non RO) or use the RO with Cal-Mag?

Looks under fed to me. Might need to add them nutes.

Start thinking about topping. I would also read about EC/PPM, and get a good EC reader since you are asking about RO water. Hanna and Bluelab are some of the top brands.

The roots will recover quickly, but you may want to diffuse the light for a little bit until she perks up.

I added 1/4 strength nutes and she perked right up, got a nice green in the new growth (not too deep green like nitrogen tox.)

I also took off the bottom leaves.

Do you think I would be able to top her on the next node? I usually wait about 6 weeks before topping but i want to try some new methods on this baby.

As long as they keep looking healthy, top at the next node.
