so found these today

so i work out on a horse ranch and i havnt seen shrooms out there yet but the weather has been perfect out here in florida so i jumped on the 4 wheeler and went and looked and bam found these guys i found like 6 of them and im 99 percent sure they are legit they turned a bluish color when i pulled them up grey gills and skirts the only thing im not sure about is the smaller ones do not have skirts but they turned blue, and everything else checks out so just lmk what you guys think like i said im pretty sure they are good to eat

idk i havnt done a spore print and i dont have the stuff to do it their like a greyish black kinda gey

The "stuff", is a white piece of paper and a bowl, cup, or glass. I really really wish the mods here would put up a sticky on this, I think I've written several extensive accounts.

Place the caps on the paper and put a bowl over them, wait a few hours to a day. While this won't tell you everyting you need to know - like we don't know where you are. But if the print is anything other than bownish purple, there is no point in going further.


But that really isn't the point. except for a very few species, like cubensis - Fortunatly, you can not ID a mushroom from a picture unless it is a scanning electron microscope image of a gill with at least some spores intact, and sometimes there are arguments over that as well.

the bigger one i printed is purple the smaller ones look purple but i couldnt get a decent print off them

I cant comment on the shrooms but since you work on a horse ranch make sure to be extra freindly to the vet.

When I owned goats the vet left me with 'just in case' meds

Take a print to make sure though.

Wait... I don't see blue on the small ones. I live in florida and there are look alikes that are small like that but dont bruise

yeah i figured they were good they all turned blue when i brused them and the prints i just checked on they all were purple in color, circus o lay this weekend haha ill be eating them ive got probably enough to trip i havnt done them in forever

Nice! have fun. You should wait till you get more. And I think the only thing that looks that similar to cubes in florida that grows on shit are stropharia... and they won't hurt you. You just won't trip. And they don't bruise blue.

Do yourself a favor, leave a whole one as a sample on your kitchen table with a note "this is what I ate today". It will be helpful for the doctor who may have to treat you.

But he said the prints were purple. And he's in florda, horse poo, okay caps/gills, bruises blue (I don't see blue on the small ones from the pics though).

And while it sounds ok now that we have the information one mushroom is probably not going to add or take away much from the trip if he's right but it could be a crucial clue to figuring out what's wrong if there is a problem. Better safe than sorry after all!

I didn't think of that. Good point. But what if he accidentally saved a cube and ate a bad one?

I was really just wondering what other mushrooms it could be with all those appearance qualities and the growing environment. And dark purple spores

lmao you guys, no the little ones bruised blue they just wernt really bruised when i picked them and those little ones i just picked before i took the picture, but i printed them like 3 hours ago and they checked out
