I'm a nub when it comes to fans and after a lot of reading through old threads I have a few questions.
SO I hooked up my CanFan and I think i went a little overboard in the size. I got this one (http://www.overstock.com/Home-Garden/Can-Fan-6-inch-392-CFM-High-output-Exhaust-Fan/5498160/product.html) for only 80 bucks USD.
After running it in a negative pressure set up It was sucking in the walls of my dr120 really bad with a passive air intake. And the other problem is, it's just to loud and pushes a lot more air then needed.
Now I've read that speed controllers like this are bad ( http://www.harborfreight.com/router-speed-control-43060.html ) that can cause a hum and reduce the life of a fan.
I've also read this is the way to go ( http://www.officebeyond.com/va-130-0300.html )
I'm cooling a 600watt light. and I'm a little confused of the placement of filter, light and fan.
so this is the set up i was thinking
Filter--------->Light------->Fan------>exhaust out the tent.... with the fan connected to a variac...
man I feel like a super nub..... And i should of bought a slower fan....
Is this the proper way of doing things or should i just buy the cheap speed controller for 20 bucks
any input is much appreciated
