Smoke Cookery using MJ wood

A couple years ago a huge male plant grew in my back yard, I harvested the woody stem and let it dry. Later that summer I used it in my grill to add smoked flavor to the leg of lamb I was cooking on the grill. The flavor of MJ was definiterly imparted in the flavor of the meat! Very sweet and mj herb flavored. If I had more I'd try it on other things like fish. Has anyone else tried this and is the MJ wood available commercially? I'd love to hear from anyone about this subject!

No I haven't. I'm an avid smoker and love to smoke chickens, Pork butts, and Ribs and such. Now I'm gonna be saving all my stalks and branches in a cardboard box and give it a go this spring and see what happens. Thanks for the tip.
