Smell Masking Without Exhaust Fan?

I had to close the door to the room that has my grow closet in it for a little bit today while company was over. I left the closet door open inside the room with my fan blowing fresh air onto my plants. When I opened it again about an hour later I got a good wiff of MJ! This is the first time I have noticed any odour at all and so I started researching carbon filters only to find that they only work when you have an intake/exhaust system, which I do not have.

Is there some sort of cheap system I can build to mask the smell inside the closet for when I close it all up for visitors?

Maybe some ona crystals and citrus spray. Seems like I saw an article once for a stand alone air scrubber. http://budfacts.com/52/homemade-grow-room-odor-control/ Something like that but the guy just placed a fan blowing into the bucket to make a scrubber requiring no ducting.

Carbon filters work fine on a single dedicated stand-alone fan. Just run the room air through the fan/filter ... that should help a lot. cn

iPot mentioned this Ona Gel stuff in my grow thread. Has anyone ever used this stuff?

Just read that the ona gel can literally REPLACE the smell of the plant to the smell and taste of the ona gel. Comments?

how the hell do you have smell coming from such small plants already? You sure you didn't just leave a bag open on your nightstand?

Actually i know tons of people who use these i personaly got a big tub of it i would say 7gal for a sweet deal from my local Shop i would recommend this stuff to anyone it works wonders

Impossible.

The plant smell consists of terpenes and other molecules. While some of these are given off into the air surrounding the plant, making the odor you smell, most of them are still located inside the plant cells.

No amount of air blowing over or around plants (with or without ONA) is going to replace the contents of the cells themselves.

Thanks for answering that Jogro!! Might have to research up on some of this a little more now. I'm really not too concerned about the smell, just want to be able to have a plan if certain company decides to come over....

My last few grows I used only Ona and a small ozone generator. I rarely used the ozone, just towards the very end when it got really stinky.

Ona works if you use it right, and it will not make your weed smell or taste funny.

I like the Clean Linen scented Ona best. The Polar Crystal kind smells like bathroom cleaning supplies. There's a 3rd scent, "Pro", never used it.

i like the pro scent over the other two(polar crystal,fresh linen)

Does it make the room seem odorless or does it have a certain stink to it?

well if you have good exhaust then no but with no exhaust then yes it will have that lil "stink"

Ive used ona frequently n ozone gen once..the latter removes everythin includin smells/mould/bugs n any livin thing apart from plants but make sure u aint in the room when generator is on cos it aint good for humans either i av been told.. lol

No probs with ONA - been using it for yonks. To the others that are using it though.... ok to put it inside the tent you think? Always used it outside.
