Wow, 2 funny I was checking them out and thinking of trying them and bam I see this. I know how it goes, not every product works 4 everyone but the hydro guy was like 4 soil it's the way 2 grow. I get the theory of how they work-air pruning thus giving more roots. Was there any other changes ? I mean in your processes ? Also curious about veg. time? Oh well thanks 4 the post, subn just to C others responsesAnyone else switch to smart pots (or that type) only to see no difference in plant health, or yeild. I sure didn't, after buying 25 of the f'in things.
should have gone with air pots rather than the smart pots. And yes i did see a huge difference from regular pots to airpots. check it out airpots. the good thing about airpots is that your roots will never get root bound since the roots trim itself pretty much. i highly recommend them
I definitely see a lot more roots in my root pots. (Aurora version of smart pots) I always try to reuse as much of my coco as I can without getting tons of old roots in it. Since switching from standard plastic pots I barely get any. It's just solid. I have to tear it apart in chunks and shake it to get anything at all.
As for LST, I've read some people just poke holes in the fabric and LST away. Others have bent paperclips and poked them through where needed. I just started supercropping instead. Same basic idea and I've only noticed minor recovery time differences.
100% agree. The pot itself just encourges root growth and not bounding them in the bottom of the pot.. For the guy that said air pruning the roots is a "myth and bs" is ONE HUNDRED PERCENT WRONG. I have watched side by side grows and smart pot plants root balls are so dence its insane, compared to this nasty root mass at the bottom of a traditional pot. Also it's so easy to lst them, when people say "you can't LST a smart pot" it makes me laugh my ass off. Is is going to make the difference between a pound and a ounce at harvest, NO! The grower in the end is what gives you amazing cannabis, things like smartpots and nutes are just here to help a little.
Airpots are best give them a try.
I picked up a few Smart Pots for this time around... Probably will be switching to some different pots for the next grow!
My *MAIN* issue with the Smart Pots are that the material is soft, making it hard to LST directly to the pot, which means I had to LST to the tent poles, which means every time I rotated the plants the LST had to be re-done - REAL pain!
Also, I'm working in a tent - and this goes for anyone in a tent or confined space - using square or rectangle pots let you get the most out of your room. Circular pots/bags lose a lot of space!
Seriously though, ,make your own "Smart Pots"... pretty sure it's just black felt sewn into the shape of a pot??
i bought a bunch of smart pots (3 and 5 gllon) over a year ago. i'll try to remember to use them this time. the 3 gallon bags look like 2 gallon grow bags and the 5 gallons have a very large foot print and are very short.
i need to put sticky notes on my veg door or i forget some things!![]()
I definitely want to grow in some kind of air-pot...anyone the cheapest place to find them ? thanks![]()
