Small Space Strain

Hello, fellow ganja pros! Old-time grower here trying for modern strains & methods. Soooo much has changed (updated) over the past 40-years of growing that it's like learning all over again. Surprisingly, it's not easy to find a discussion venue that isn't populated almost exclusively by beginners. The obvious problem with that is the magnitude of bad information floating around, and being presented as “fact”. These forums seem to be used by many with a solid understanding of the growing processes. I hope to participate in lots of helpful topics here.

I need help locating the best strain(s) for my specific growing needs. Recreational purposes only, CBD content irrelevant. I'm hoping for recommendations from those with personal knowledge/experience of a potential strain.

Grow Type:
Indoor 3' x 3' using 100% organic soil & nutrients. My intent is a fast, short, perpetual grow, possibly scrog. Please note, I'm happy to discuss grow methods under another topic. For now I'm focused only on a good strain.

Vendors:
USA or Canada only. Last time I'd ordered from Europe (Herbies) it took 30 days for arrival and had 60% dead beans. For me it's the North American continent or nothing at all. Last time I'd ordered from Canada was through “MJ Seeds Canada”, which provided super fast delivery & 100% germination success.

Characteristics in descending order of importance...

1) Bean Type:
Given a choice, I'd go with regular beans (50% male-to-female). I'm willing to use feminized beans. Absolutely NO auto-flowers. Been there, done that, never again.

2) High Type:
I prefer a cerebral high, possibly with a dash of body high. Not interested in major couchlock.
While I understand the general differences between sativa & indica in this regard, I'm open to anything that gets the results.

3) Bud Density:
Maximizing grow space-to-harvest weight. I have not been happy with the likes of Sour Diesel or various Haze strains. Genetically thick, heavy buds are the goal. This is aside from grow/training methods (scrog, pinched, etc.)

4) Potency:
I'm looking for 18% THC or higher. My general rule-of-thumb is whatever the bean vendors advertise as potency, subtract a minimum of 5%.

5) Flower Time:
I'm looking to work a perpetual harvest system. The faster I can finish flowering, the faster I can re-veg. My general rule-of-thumb is whatever the bean vendors advertise as flower time, add a minimum of 2 weeks on top of that.

6) Flavor:
I prefer sweet & fruity. As this is 6th down the list of importance, I have no specific objections to a potent diesel or pine taste.

Midweek Song will arrive within 5-6 days from London to East Coast US. That time is consistent for me.

I'm growing a strain for the first time called Hash Bar OG. It's in veg right now.....I know that the Hash Plant mother is a short plant....not sure about the father (Face Off OG). So far, mine is growing very short and stalky.

I hate autos, too and I only grow regular seeds. Hash Plant is also supposed to be a very fast flowering strain...I may be wrong, but I think it's a phenotype of Northern Lights...Don't quote me on that, though!

*Edit* Nope...Hash Plant is a phenotype of an Afghani landrace strain. Cheers!

Just a heads up, https://www.greatlakesgenetics.com/ has a really really good 2 year anniversary special going on right now. I just took advantage of this myself. There is a thread that talks about this also and has the lists of freebies up and all that. I'll post it for you, they are USA based, I have ordered from them many times myself and they only carry reputable breeders stock.

https://www.rollitup.org/t/great-lakes-genetics.871947/page-16

if you scroll up a few messages from the end there you can get a taste of whats going on. The website is a little confusing but once you get whats going on its a really really good deal thats only gonna last ten days or so.

besides that tho, if you are interested I have compiled a list of US based seed banks that I have ordered from over the years that I would be more than willing to share.

Hope this helps, cheers.

Personally I would say that TGA will have what you want for high density flavor and potency! Vortex, jacked up, Chernobyl and Jilly bean are all fruity dense 9 weekers that are cerebral and uplifting! Jamesbeancompany distributes them online in the u.s. I've grown Tga gear since 2009 and have had amazing results, so much so that I use a few of their varieties in my own crosses.

^ beat me to it! I was going to recommend Jamesbean.com

Good luck with that project...I would love to see a grow journal.

I am planning on running Purple Tangie in the spring but buying the beans as soon as I can find em!

Cheers

Thanks a lot for the helpful info! I'll be checking out all of your suggestions.

I've been tasked with creating a small, productive grow space that costs $150 or less, can be totally dismantled in 5 minutes or less, and is not immediately recognizable as a grow space. I included the perpetual harvest aspect as part of the challenge because... well, why not?

Personally, I've moved out of "closet grows" many long years ago. I took up the challenge in part due to modern equipment available and modern pricing. For me, this is nothing more than a fun little side project, but I'd like to get it as right as possible.

@ktmac20
Jamesbean.com may not be the best place for beans.

I should mention the reason why I'll only order through North America.

When ordering beans which have to cross the ocean, there is no telling how many times that package is going to be x-rayed by the Customs Departments of how many countries or shipping hubs.

Europe and North America shipping typically involves your beans running through x-ray machines which are literally the size of very large rooms. The more often your beans are 'nuked', the less likely they will do anything other than feed the bottom of your trash bin.

2) High Type:

Given that you prefer a cerebral high from sativa type buds without having to deal with lots of sativa stretch, here are two strains which I have grown many times and throughly enjoy.

Satori from Mandala Seeds.
This is a strain which grows more like an indica dom, but provides tasty, zippy, cerebral euphoria.
Not very much stretch when flowering compared to other sativa dom hybrids I have grown.
Overall an easy plant to grow indoors.

WAPPA from Paradise seeds.
This strain produces buds which are more indica like than Satori. But the high is intensely motivational and uplifting and invigorating for the first hour or so.
The plants do not stretch very much and they like to stay short. Also easy to grow.

As to whether they can be obtained from a North American supplier,I do not know.??

Good Luck:blsmoke:

I like Chernobyl by TGA. I have not had my cut tested yet, but I've seen results for Chern from a couple Michigan labs that were over 21%. Lime Hi-C to almost lemon lime Gatorade taste depending on pheno. Motivating, energetic high. Generally dense bud structure, can be a bit of a stretcher. I harvest 56-62 days after flip to 12/12. Get a ten pack or two and you'll find something worth keeping around for a while. All TGA seeds are non-feminized. Also, have not had a Chern herm on me yet.

^ unless you get the rare blood wreck Trinity pheno with no citrus at all, like mine. Straight fuel funk.!

I've had Chernobyl before, and it was absolutely great!
Checked Jamesbeancompany's TGA and right now they are unavailable.

I know. I feel like a thirsty guy who got his mouth all watering thinking about a nice glass of orange juice, only to open the fridge and see that someone else drank it all.
