Small concealed grow

I am trying to set a really small personal grow. My idea is to put 210 actual watts of cfl lights in a rubbermaid box. Have a intake fan on the bottom of one of the sides, and have a exhaust on the other side of the box, at the top. I would do everything possible to keep the plant down (lst hardcore) but in the case that it got to big, I have a place outside that i could take it, or even add another rubbermaid box on top of this one.

Like this:

So I have a couple of questions-
Do you think it would be possible to keep a plant contained in one rubbermaid box?

Lights-
What light set would be better?

Correct me if I am wrong, but those bulbs would fit in a normal sized (usa) light socket? And run both sides of the spectrum through out the entire grow? I may also throw in smaller lights as I go. I have quite a few 13watt cfls i may put on the side.

Soil will be generic potting soil, or MG moisture control.(I know) with perlite added. Stuff i already have around the house.

Strain will be a auto. I have quite a few coming, reg, and autos. Will probably start with northern lights auto. I hear it is hard to fuck up.

I am not thinking that smell will be a big problem, If it becomes one I will attempt to handle with ona gel first, then maybe a DIY carbon filter if needed.

The only thing that really has me puzzled is how to hang the lights, horizontal with the lid.

Do you guys see any major holes in my plans? Thoughts? Constructive criticism is welcomed.

Edit: Forgot to mention, I am on a hardcore budget. ~140 not counting the seeds, soil, container, wire for lights.

Alright, first use the 105 watt 6500k cuz the have a slightly smaller profile. next if your running Autos then you wont need a timer, so you can save a few bucks there, but you will need to buy the 4.01 and 7.0 Calibration Solutions for your PH meter, and also a PPM meter.Dont use anything MG its usually full of gnats and other pests and personally id use a analog thermometer.[h=1][/h]

I've heard miracle grow moisture control works okay, but personally i have had bad experiences with miracle grow soil. if you grow 12/12 from seed and lst and crop the plants to keep them short you can grow them to whatever height you want.

Should I use the 65k and the 27k at the same time? two bulbs running at once?

And don't autos use 20/4 light cycle? or would it be okay for me to just turn it on and off manually?

Would that be a legit fix for the ph? Not needing to calibrate it, and being able to adjust it all in one?

Thanks for the advice btw. I am looking for a small-ish bag of soil. What would be a good/cheap soil for me to use?

From everything i have heard about it so far, i think i would rather use the cheap ass walmart potting soil. -_- filter the large chunks out. I have only found like one decent MG story.

Go to your local grow store and get a bag of Fox Farms Ocean Forest or Happy Frog for like $20 and then you wont Need the Fox Farm 3part or a ph meter or ph up and down, you can just use tap water. Yes use 65k and 27K, also with Autos you never have to shut your lights off, just run them 24/7.

I use miracle grow moisture control with perlite added. I have good success. I don't use very much veg nutes. I use botanicare pro bloom soil during floweing. I have no specific advice for you, I just wanted to say I use MG and I wish you well.

If I was growing auto`s oh wait I still do sorry got some vegging right now lol

I grow them under 18/6 or 20/4 not 24/0 they can still stress and hermi most are ok but you get better taste if you give them some dark

Saying that running the lights non stop may help you with smell control

Ona ? I don`t waste my time with that stuff anymore, bio gel aka magic soil, soak that in odor control stuff in an ona tub and 10g of bio gel that cost`s like 50p and a splash of a good odor eater let it soak for an hour or so and boob reusable odor eating gel

Go with 2700k bulbs, the type with lots of U`s are good but the spy-rials are cheaper and they might not be quite as efficient but they have a tiny bit more penetration but I just find them easier to work with.

I went and got some cheap organic soil with no long term release of nutes. Maybe it will be easier to control this way. =) I have some calmag, and FF trio, along with ph up and down, and a meter on its way.

Thank you sir. =)

Okay, I am planning on running them 20/4 the whole time. Would vegging non-autos be alright in this? I plan on starting some as my autos are finishing up. I also am going to make a DIY carbon filter. Bought some activated carbon. =)

I still have yet figured out a good way to do the nutes for a auto, how do you feed your plants? I have cal-mag, and the FF trio. I know that i want to start small, and work up. But my auto is done in ~60-70 days, so the 12 week system wouldnt work, right? Any ideas?

dont use miracle grow, it will make you weed taste like shit, and use the 6500 k for veg period, one per plant is fine, but for bud stage i would suggest using the big guns, MH or HPS, becuase this is the only way you will get any weight

Totally agree on the MG, I'd avoid it like the plague. As far as lighting goes, I really believe you CAN get weight without going HID. Just had a buddy finish up some Urkel with CFL all the way, yielded several oz. per plant. Plus, the idea of a very compact grow sort of precludes the big guns.

Okay, I have splurged a bit. I have some cal-mag, the Fox Farm trio, and some organic soil from home depot.(only one without extended release nutes) I also have 2x 6500k 105w and 2x 2700k 105w CFL's (Don't hate, i only paid ~60 shipped)

Glad your buddy had a good grow. I am hearing and seeing more and more good stuff about using CFL's. And running 210w in a single rubbermaid container, should be enough light.

You think a 90cfm fan would be enough airflow to keep things vented?

6500k on the left, 2700k on the right. So 210 Watts in a rubbermaid container, Think that will be enough?

Also got some mylar in today, My box is pretty much done (have to get more duct tape for the mylar) Now I am just waiting on the seeds. >.>
