Small 2x2 breeding area?

Just to have some fun and see what expressions come thru in f2s ..is there alot of variations that could show themselves??... I have few regular beans left in a pack I really like and want to see what else I can find... haven't gotten a male yet and 6 beans left so I'm thinking of making a small closed area or find a small tent for just 1 male n 1 female..maybe not a long veg keep em on smaller end, could I train em both to be short and use A small tent?

I don't wanna blow off a male in my main flower room cuz thats perpetual style and not my main goal

You’ll have to veg at least 6 or 7 weeks from seed to ensure plants are mature enough for sex. Top them to keep short. Each plant from seed will be slightly different. You will have to pop a whole lotta seeds to identify all the available phenotypes. Concentrate on finding two good healthy plants for to make sexy time… 0861040A-B9B4-4885-BD91-2A4D92847A56.gif
when selecting plants for breeding try to look for stinky boys with strong thick stems and resilient girls with tight nodal stacking.

Depends on how many seeds you want in the end. I keep pollen as minimal as possible... just in case some gets away, so I'll grow plants out until they show sex, then take clones, root them and flower them in a small tent. One small male clone will create more than ample pollen. A large male is going to dump pollen all over the place while flowering, and when you eventually go to chop it down, it gets reall messy... just pollen flying everywhere. Keep it small and manageable and keep it contained. You can still get hundreds of seeds from doing it with small clones in a small space.

So you'd flower off the rooted clone and keep the male like a father alongside mother's in veg? Interesting point on the smaller male for less pollen,,very insightful....
Also considering just collect pollen and not letting the male go full balls deep lol

Another way to sort of limit pollen: find a boy you want to stud and quarantine him in a separate area…wait until the flowers are opening. Gently snip off a branch in an area where there are no females close by. Shake the branch inside a plastic bag to collect the pollen. Paint the pollen onto girl buds using a damp paintbrush. Seeds grow where you paint.

I like this idea but I think a dry paintbrush would be better. I'm pretty sure water kills pollen.

It sure couldn't hurt to keep the original parents around for future crosses, backcrosses, etc, but my suggestion was really just about keeping things small when pollinating so you have more control. One male and however many females you want to pollinate. Root clones, pot up, veg for a week, and flip to 12/12. You can either let the pollen fly or like Drysift suggested, keep the male separate and collect the pollen so you can dust your ladies in a controlled manner. This is what I do as well, with a dry paintbrush like Qube, but if you choose this method you will need yet another tent, light, etc in another space and I don't know if you have the means to do that or not. (Waaaayy back in the day I limped a male along in a cardboard box (Do not do this) with a few cfls and a timer. Just saying... where there's a will there's a way!) You only need to flower the male for a few weeks until he really starts spewing his pollen for you to collect, after which you can toss him.

Yes I'm debating just using my flower room for the orgy round then clean her out and hopefully stack up on all kinds of seed cuz I'd throw other stuff in there.....

.....or How well does the paintbrush technique work for not pollenating the surrounding stuff? Like maybe some areas but I'm assuming the majority is normal buds? Cuz i have another area i can setup & run the isolation 12/12 and collect pollen for this technique

You can selectively pollinate particular branches or buds in your main tent if you must. You just need to take precautions. Safest best would be to remove whichever ladies you want to pollinate and do the deed in a different room. If that's not ideal, you can do it right in your flower chamber, you just need to be super careful and expect that you may find occasional rogue seeds in the rest of your crop. All fans must be turned off including your extraction fan. The air in the tent and surrounding room needs to be still. Paint the buds you selected with pollen. Wait at least 10 hours and then spray the branches down with a fine mist of water. That should hopefully kill any pollen that is still lingering that wasn't taken up by the pistils. If you turn the fans on before doing this, you will end up with random seeds throughout the crop from that pollen blowing around. If you pollinate in a different room you will still need to spray them down before bringing them back to the tent.

Great advice ,, i think this is the method I'll try...i can take it out when ready to paint up and then bring it back and see how it goes... I like the process it seems easy to follow and I'll probably get some buds and seeds off same round which is killer man!

For pollinating isolated branches I use a cue tip to paint the pollen on the flower. Then place a ziplock or sandwich bag with rubber band over the flower for 24 hours. When you remove the ziplock and spray the flower with water to kill any pollen that may become airborne.

Also store the remainder pollen in the freezer, parchment paper with a few grains of rice, in a glass jar for future chucks. Saves space rather than keeping the male and the male clones around. Of course if it is a known cross and you plan on making seeds several times, keep the male.
