Are you using well water? If yes it could be iron bacteria in which case H2O2 will help, if it's not well water I'm not sure. Iron bacteria looks and feels like gelatin.

No, I live in Washington DC. My new res, air pump and air stones have finally arrived and I will get them ready for the sprout of Raspberry Cough I have. I will give an update in about three-four weeks.

SUCCESS!!!

I used General Hydroponics Subculture M, B and Flora Blend and no more slime!! The roots look magnificent. Long, white and beautiful. I'll never grow again without these three products.
Man, I feel great.

Good to know, thank you! I'll have a look when I start up again in the fall. If it's cheaper than hydroguard then perfect :).

The amount of Subculture M & B used is very small so a small jar goes a long long way if you're a small grower like me. The Flora Blend isn't too expensive and should last a long time too.

This problem was the most frustrating I've ever experienced in 8 years of growing. I never had a slime problem before and I was at wits end in getting rid of it. It's been quite a learning experience.
