Sm-90

Does anyone use SM-90 as a regular additive to their reservoirs? I used Hydroguard for years but it's not available anymore. My res temps are 77 - 78 degrees and I'm not shelling out the big bucks for a chiller. I have plenty of oxygen in the res but because of the high temps I'm concerned about root rot. Also - is it compatible with hydrogen peroxide? Or is hydrogen peroxide even necessary when using SM-90?

Thanks!

Dude,

With temps like that you are asking for problems. Thats just way too high, so as a result of high temps your O2 levels are not good, and thats where the problems will start. I would add h202 as a preventitive, it artificially boosts the o2 level and keeps molds and rot at bay.
But with temps like that,,,, good luck

I'd like to hear opinions from those who have used sm90 and h2o2. Are they doing the same thing? Why is sm90 better? How much of each did you add and how often?

So would I . I just noticed a powder mold problem and have been treating with garden safe organic anti fugi spray until the store opens so I can pick up sm90 I hear it's the best. Don't know why I dident find it sooner.

i've been using sm-90 with h202. so far the hydrogen peroxide is the faster fix but is way more temporary. with sm-90 you actually prevent the rot alot longer as the peroxide dissipates over 24 hours.

sorry, i'm new and that's about the only thing i've noticed. i use them both together cause the h2o2 makes the roots whiter almost immediately and the sm-90 keeps them that way.
