What is this that is showing up on some of my rapid rooters? Is this a problem? Is it a fungus, or just salt buildups?

Can't tell from the pics but if it's soft and fuzzy it's fungus and if it's hard and crusty it's salt build up. But I would think it's not salt build up cuz your plants are too small and it take a while to get salt built up unless your using well water that goes thru a softner.

Yeah, my camera sucks. Its not fuzzy as far as I can tell, its just kind of white. Almost like its drying up, but still moist. I am using tapwater from my city water. I guess I should switch to distilled water.
