Does the chiller keep the tent cool enough, or does it just keep the res cooled off? I am thinking about a chiller too, as I might end up in the garage as well after I move. What size chiller is that 1/2 hp?
just the water. in fact if u put it in the tent it would probably add to the already warm environment. cant remember what size it is. i think i asked the last time i was there i just got high and forgot. lol.

Yes it just chills the water/solution in the reservoir. It is a 1/10 HP model and wheels is correct, when I had it in the tent it definitely raised the temperature.

Oh ok. I have seen chillers used with radiators to chill the tent a room a light and a res, but that would be a bigger one. What do you chill the water at? I am gonna guess 70*??

Yeah I would need a much bigger chiller to chill the light and honestly having all that plumbing up by the electrical lines would make me nervous. I keep my water between 68-70 degrees now because I have that fungus issue but I would normally keep it a little warmer (around 75 degrees) because the warmer temperature is better for microbial growth and I use compost Tea which is all beneficial bacteria, mychorrizae, fungi, and trichoderma.

I see.
Did you say you grow in your garage?
If so how do you control temps out there?
I like your setup, and I already have the tent, I might emulate your setup after I move if I can fit that tent in my garage.
How expensive/hard is it to build your recirc hydro setup?

u can buy one for a few hundy. u could make one for cheap but i wouldnt recommend it if its ur first time getting ur build on with buckets and plastics. the holes u need to drill into the buckets have to be pretty close to exact otherwise u run into grommet issues like not fitting just right or the hole being just a tad lopsided or somrthing if thats the case u will have to buy new buckets do to water leaks. pretty simple setup in all honesty i just dont like the holes. id rather buy something thats guaranteed to fit together right and work properly without leaks and if it does it gets replaced free of charge.

I found a 12 site ebb&gro setup on CL for $200 is that any good?

My garage is below my apartment and I leave the garage door (to my apartment) open and put the A/C on when the light is on.

I bought the hydro setup from my local hydro store. It is made by HumCo hydro and I bought it for around $350. You can make it for around $275 but if you haven't done one before you may want to buy the first one so you know all of the parts and tricks.

[h=2]C.A.P EBB-12 EBB & GRO 12 Site Hydroponic Sytem - $200 (Orangevale)[/h]

Date: 2012-08-27, 10:43AM PDT

SYSTEM IS 6MONTHS OLD, IT HAS A CURRENT WARRANTY FOR 3YRS I BELIEVE AND ILL SET YOU UP WITH THE WARRANTY.
Has 12pots with removable inner pots.

The Ebb & Gro (from 12 to 48+ plants) is the most versatile ebb & flow system on the market. With many growers going from large numbers of small plants to fewer, larger ones, the Ebb & Gro fits the bill! It is a simple system that uses 2 pumps and gravity to flood and drain the planters about 3 or 4 times per day. The fill drain cycles are controlled by the controller unit (the square white container) to control the feeding schedule that you set on it's built-in timer. This system can be set up in many different sizes and shapes to fit your exact growing needs. You can add more grow pots as necessary. It is completely expandable. The system works by connecting all of the grow pots to the controller unit. All necessary tubing and fittings are included with the system. Then you just set the timer to fill and drain the pots about 3 or 4 times a day.

Will also include approximately 100lbs of hydrotons upon pick up.

200 cash no less. Come get it

they are cool and work really well. ive never personally used one but i have a buddy that does. has great results with it. but ur better off just getting a flood table with a pump and res unless ur planning on growing trees. or even just a few individual dwcs. woould do the trick 4 5 gallon buckets with net pot lids and a cheap 4 way pump is about 70 bucks or so at my old local hydro store. was thinking about a dwc for one of my personal grows. just to experiment a little. i used to fuck with that shit when i was more of a newb and the black slime killed my shit 3 weeks in. but now i know about teas and beneficial bacteria and microbes so im willing to give it another go. :)

I have never done hydro b4 and want something I cant fuck up that will yield well, since Ill be limited to a 4x4 tent now.. I will trust your opinions here guys. I see nothing but awesome grows!

I was thinking about Hempy buckets or DWC, but was unsure which would be best for me.

I am on my 7th flowering run, so I am still a newb, at least compared to all the seasoned growers around here lol.

if ur not too sure just do a few dwc's. its cheap and easy. so if u fuck it up ur not out a huge amount of money for equipment. just 70 bucks or so for buckets lids and a pump. plus a $10 bag of hydroton for the net pots. becuz in all honesty thats all im gonna do when i get back into it. if im good at complete hydro then ill upgrade. but i want a few runs first. its not even professional growers. lol. becuz ive only been growing a few years. i just do a lot of research on the subject becuz ive kinda made weed my life and since its part of my current income i kinda gotta be on top of things. that and ive had a few batches that put people on their asses. ;) lol. best advice i can give. find a nute brand with a 5-8 part advanced feading line and stick with it. every nutrient in the lineup is made to accent the other nutrients in the lineup. ive gotten way better results doing this than when i used to mix and match. becuz im no fucking scientist. lol.

oh also look into teas and beneficial bacteria and microbes. they will save ur grow if u do decide to hydro it..

With DWC, how often do drain and refill?

Oh and are we talking regular DWC or the recirculating DWC?
regular. i made a recirculating 4 bucket with 2 gallon buckets once worked well but the slime killed everything. lol. was going to use 2 gallons till they got big enough to save nutes and water. then was goingto move them to a 5 gallons.

I change my water every other week. I would go with a recirculating DWC because I think you get better growth than compared to a single bucket system.

My roots are recovering well after the fungus gnats after I started using Rhizotonic, and pro silicate

Is that because you didnt have the microbes and beneficial bacteria or from high temps?

Do I need a chiller to keep from getting slimy water like Wheels got?

I am glad your roots are doing better now. Pest problems suck donkey balls.

It depends on a few things to decide if you need a chiller. My garage's warm temps combined with the recirculating water pump that is on 24/7 warming the water and that is why I need a chiller. I think if you do DWC you should probably run a chiller but you may not need one if you do flood and drain. You really want to keep your water temps between 68-75 degrees. Adding beneficial bacteria should be done with either method, IMO.

u really should use a chiller regardless if u have a res its always a good idea. but not necessary. if u vent the room fast enough so that the heat never builds up u should be ok as long as u use the bene bacteria and stuff. just wrap the buckets in mylar or panda film white side outward it helps lower the temps of the black buckets drastically. nice thing about individual dwcs is that if one plant is having bad issues u have separate solutions for each of them. so u can catch a problem on the first to show and hopefully be able so save the rest since they arent all on the same res.
