Skunk seeds just germinated from the mid 1980's - 35 years old!!!

You just had to know the right Mexicans, which my buddy met in Vietnam....Yes, most of it was seedy crap. I use to reject about 5 types before they would break out the good skunk, for around $500 a pound, on this side of the border. The seedy crap we could get for under $100 a kilo.

The good old days before 911, when you could check 2 bags stuffed full of weed onto the airline without anyone blinking an eye.
i guess the only mexicans we knew operated the 50 ton press that compressed that shit into bricks. only good stuff came from kentucky in the fall.

I think it was about mid 80's when Mexico started learning how to grow sensi....and then shortly later their efforts shifted mostly to cocaine I believe....Which probably helped fuel the homegrown weed movement in the US.

One of them is skunky in veg? While not unheard of, that is noteworthy. The catpiss is exciting too.

Thank you for the update!
It started smelling skunky when it was a 30 day old seedling. Pretty excited but time will tell. I really hope it’s a female. Here’s a pic of it. Smells like skunk and coffee. Mmmmmmm!

Yup I have noticed. I too have been looking for that old skunk since the 90's. And if there are skunk strains in this batch of seedlings? I'm really not sure what to do as it may be a gold mine. I wake up every day pinching myself. But, I'm not here to market anything, I'm not selling anything, and I'm not giving anything away. Right now I just want to grow these and see what they turn into. My goal is to save these lineages, what ever they may be. And yes, I plan on cloning. Ya, I miss the real old skunky weed and would love to restore the lineage. So many damn hybrids these days that tastes like sage and pine.
Not knowing what you really got, are you concerned you might be breeding two diffrent strains here? We're all pulling for ya man. Hoping you do have the Skunk, And did you just plant straight into the ground? How did you get these to pop?

Good point. And yes I am concerned. Looks like 40 percent of the plants are males which I’m actually thinking of culling, except for the most cat piss or skunk smelling male which I’ll let go to pollination. And yes, they’re all planted in the ground.

I was recently given a load of 60 seeds from a someone who had them in his refrigerator since the mid 1980's. He said they were mostly all skunk. To my amazement, I got 26 to germinate. I'm totally blown away and really excited. Right now all 26 plants are about 5 inches tall, some with fat leafs plants and skinny leafs, but it's too early to tell male from female. My question is - were there more than one type of skunk weed in the 1980's? Here's a few pics showing some with skinny leaves (sativa) and fat leaves (indica) on them right now. I'm hoping someone can maybe identify these who grew skunk back then. Also looking for some direction so I can save these old strains. Thanks.
You have my attention…..
