What size pots do you all grow in? What kind of lights? How much yeaild off of one plant?

I've always used 3 gallon and never topped my ladies or anything, but this time im using uncle bens topping technique to get 4 main colas and Im wondering if my 3 gallon pots will be big enough to pull 4 or 5 oz,s off each lady... Heres the rundown....

strain: nivana chrystal

fox farm ocean forest and happy frog with added perlite.

ff grow big, big bloom, tiger bloom

400 watt mh for vegging, vegging for 4 to 5 weeks

600 watt and 400 watt hps for flower

What do you guys think? Will 3 gallon pots work without getting rootbound? Opinions please...Thanks....:leaf:

Im running an experiment using LEDs right now and the first set I am flowering are in 3 gal pots, next set one will be in a 5 gal and in a 7 gal per tent.

I think you could see a noticeable increase in yield if you used 5/7 gals if you have the space. 3 gals will work, but not necessarily ideally.

Thanks for the reply man, How are those led,s working for you? I would like to pull 3 to 5 oz.s off each plant hence the reason Im going with 4 mains..... Just worried about getting rootbound.....

Not a problem man! My first run in a hydro system using cocoa and peralite and 3 gallon containers I pulled 7oz (after dried) off 5 plants. I probably had about 600w of actual wattage draw in LEDs.

Check the link in my signature if you want to check the current grow. I am comparing 3 different LED brands.

So I'd say your pretty successful with led,s... I hear mixed reviews... Ill definately check your grow out.... Thanks again...

If your average per plant hits 4 or 5 zips ill shit. But im really pullin for you. If your going to veg for the kinda size needed to average that much you should definetly consider 5 gallon buckets. I hate wasting extra time with vegging and topping, so i like to run fast and furious with a week or two veg and straight to flower. my average has been close to 3 oz per site. I increased my light so that will change.

i do aero and my containers are rubbermaid 10(?) gallons about?. somewhere around there. anywho, i got a total of around 11 oz dry off one plant. unti the last 3 weeks i was using 400 watt HPS then put an additional 400 watts to it. i use general hydroponics nutes. so f ar i love em. very good for the thrifty grower too. check my grow out in the link below...

Thanks man... I sure am hoping... Without topping my plants iI generally pull 1.5 to 2 oz,s per plant...That why Im hoping to pull at leats 4 off of 4 mains..... I think I will go with the 5 gallon just to be safe.... thanks for the reply...

FOUR OR FIVE OZ EACH?

i would think that you'd have to go bigger than a 3 gallon. and veg longer. and grow outside! :)

Really? My previous grows not topping or anything and vegging for 4 weeks would give me 2 oz's per plant at about 4 ft tall.... I agree with the bigger containers, but vegging 5 weeks and 4 main colas, I cant see why I couldnt easily pull 4 oz's per plant under 400 and 600 watt hps... You dont think?

yeah bro, check it out and let me know what you think or thought. if youve got questions, ill try my best to answer them. :)
I checked that monster out, nice job on that TREE :)

4-8oz can definitely be done! I would definitely go for the 5 gallon, shit I yielded 5 zips off an old school 250 Mh 130 watts of cfl and A kandy kush seed in 5 gallon bucket of soil lol..

Here's a pic, I could imagine what it would have done with a 600hps cool tube hangin over it!

My personal best is 17 oz in a five gallon bucket with rockwool croutons. The plant reaching 7'11" was more the determining factor than the bucket, had to take out ceiling panels and part of the floor above. All indoor this far north.
top.jpg
bottom.jpgI was seeing how large I could get in 2 gallons when the stem snapped 5" up from the rockwool. 6 oz of colas, 2 oz of lesser bud. 4 oz/gallon.
I was hoping the bucket would show better, white 2 gallon bucket from Lowes. But 4 ounces per gallon of media is pretty standard in my grow, usually 12 plants per 6 gallon tray with no prune. Lotsa light, 133 watts/square foot counting sidelights, those vertical T8's behind the plant.

The clone moms are singles in a bucket, the source of the above pic, fewer but larger buds as 15 clones were pulled the day before putting to flower. 21 dry grams in the main cola, no wonder the darn thing broke.

I just wanted to brag, but the point of roots remaining very efficient even when very tightly packed needed to be made. Singles in buckets or a dozen in a tray. This is not a fluke, I always grow like this.

The odd one was when I over vegged a tray and put it to flower anyhow, nightmare harvest from hell I called it when it came out, over three pound yield of medium buds, no biggies at all, hundreds and hundreds of buds, each needing their own trim.
The next time I overvegged (stuff happens) I actually threw the 12 plants over the downhill bank in my back yard, I will not go through that again.

But the yield was 8.5 oz per gallon on that one. Smoke was second class and buds were small, never again.

HOLY TREE!!! Show off, lol. Thanks crazy bro, what kind of veg does a 17 oz plant require? Thanks for sharing!

I would have to look back but I think I vegged her for around 6-8 weeks under cfl's and transplanted into the 5 gal right before flowering. Topped her twice and had shit 20+Tops from what I remember, Kandy is a stretchy heavy yielding strain so I know I could Kill those number with the right room an equiptment! Good luck, lmk if you have anymore questions!
