Single Plant Grow Room

Hello and Welcome,

This is my first real grow room. (I was given a pair of flowering plants before but only had a shitty 24" florescent on it. needless to say it failed.) I live in a small apt so space is tight but i do have a tiny utility closet that i have converted into a grow room. The closet is a little less than 2x2. I installed 6 light sockets with spliters, the 24" florescent tubes i mounted vertically (it's too big to hang) and i covered the walls with mylar.

I have 6 2700k cfls and 6 6500k cfls and 2 24" grow light tubes for lighting. I'm using a 3 g pot with MG potters choice soil and a rockwool cube to germinate.

I just got my seeds today. For my first plant i will be planting A Big Bang feminized seed.

I plan on using a 24/0 cycle until i have 4 full sets of leaves then i'm goin to switch to 12/12. I would go bigger but don't have enough room as is.

Even tho this is my first grow i have high hopes and any comments or advice would be appreciated.

Thanks, Beans Franklin

Big Bang its a indica strain i found online...it was the cheapest seed so i figured it would be a good first attemped (just in case i fail don't wanna lose the more expensive seeds i bought)

Just a quick update,

I got my seeds on Wednesday morning and planted them later that day. I've been keeping the room at 23-26 C. I've been keeping an eye on the seed it has split open and sent out a chute inti the rockwool cube so i hope to have some pics up of the seedling very soon.

one other problem i'm having is that with all my lights on temps can get upto 39 C, so i've been thinking about putting in some dry ice to keep temps down and add some co2, some controversy i've run in to is whether or not the co2 should be higher or lower then the plants, is co2 lighter or heavier than air?

Peace, Beans

Ok so its 8 days since i planted my first seed. The seed split open on day two, and seemed perfectly normal, on day five the seedling looked as those it would burst open any day. But i think i had my light to close and i dryed out the rockwool cube, i gently added water and i continued to see growth. but it drye out again and think it finished the plant off. I'm goin to try a new method of germination, with the cube out of soil, in a glass with ph adjusted water covered in plastic. also will move light even further away. Wish me luck.

Peace, Beans

I think heat is gonna be an issue even with cfls. Can you leave the door open, or vent it? Also you don't need light when germing, turn it on once they break the surface, and only 2-4 cfls will be fine for the first week to get them started. Forget the rockwool and put the seed directly into the soil. Also some air flow would be helpful, just a little 6" fan or something. Do you have someway to control odors?
