Hi, I was wondering if there is any info out there for a single plant setup that would work well in a closet in an apartment?

i made a grow box out of a speaker box. put to fans for intake and outtake. i got to regular flourecent lights they were 5 bucks each. and my plant is growing great. i got a big grow room in the garage but i wanted somthing cheap and small for my room and it works as good as my room.

Go buy some cfls, and find some sort of premade container. COuld be a wooden chest or cabinent. Mount lights give ventilation and do it. Cheap, not productive, but at least its fun to watch things grow

I found my way into the diy bubbleponics thread, looks pretty cheap to get started, what kind of light(s) would I need for a 1 plant setup? My local CL has 600w HPS for $200 (doesnt mention ballast, just says 600w HPS light) , someone else is selling 1000w hortilux bulb and 1000w ballast with cooltube and fan for $250. Are these overkill though? I did see an ad for 250 watt HPS light with new hydrolux bulb, tempered glass lens and some extra bulbs for $160, but it doesnt mention if it has a ballast or not.

hey...doing an apartment grow here too. just finished building my own closet setup. However i do not have a closet in my room, so i am using a furniture closet. I would have loved the extra room if i did tho. Check it out. I will post more pics as i continue building. Good Luck

I live in a basement suite meaning the landlords live in the same house upstairs, I have converted a dresser into a place for 3 8" pots or more smaller ones..
I am using a 250 HPS because I only have 20" of vertical growth room, the taller your room the more watts you may want, but if you decide to go any HID route heat is going to be a major issue, its always the battle but once you get it under control its a wonderful feeling to have a stealth unit that is "your property" so if anyone does come in opening closets etc they are less likely to find it.
I am sure those prices include the ballasts however make sure they are quality products because in my opinion cheap shit can cause fires!
Good luck!

Bestbud, cool to hear your gonna try too! I found a premade closet on craigslist that im going to try and haggle for and figured i could use that. Would I need odor control for 1 or 2 plants? I found a Air Tiger Ozonator for 80$ on my local craigslist, I figured with that and some CFL it would be pretty hard to detect the setup is there correct? Or would 1 plant not really put off that much smell?

Pic of closet for sale? http://i26.tinypic.com/10z8i2e.jpg since its wood I could probably take a saw and cut sum off the bottom to fit in my closet, or maybe just put it in the corner of the room and surround it with junk so people dont notice...

What CFLs would I need and how many? Could you elaborate please?

I never got a call back on the closet thing so i dunno whats up with that, this got me thinking about using a cheap dresser like this http://i25.tinypic.com/10h1z09.jpg i thought maybe I could break out the bottoms of all the drawers making it hollow in the middle but then there would be a strip of wood between each drawer so I dunno how I would get a bucket out unless I somehow lifted up the whole dresser and pulled the bucket out from beneath.... hmmm
