Hello, just set up a single bucket DWC under a 400w HID system. I used a 10" or so net pot, largest one like 1/2 the size of the bucket, and filled it with hydroton.
Pics below

Pump is dual outlet 2800ccpm and i'm using 2 12" airstones in an X pattern on the bottom of the bucket.

what do you think? loaded it with fresh clean water letting it sit for a few days. I get meters nutrients and seeds next week.

+ rep. looks solid. If you can its good to let the water sit and even airate for a day to get any clorine out.

thats exactly what I'm doing. Its pretty clean water, but I'll test it to see if I shouldn't use some pure water from the store instead.
What ppm should I look for water only? 1-200? I think at 300 tap water is bad to use right?
I haven't tested mine yet

also should I just plant one seed or would it improve yield to plant 2-4 seeds in the single netpot.

good question dbo im in the same situation i have loads of them buckets sitting around my house and i am doing the same set up at you.

iv grown on soil but never hydro so my questions are

1) is there special hydro newts that you buy.

2) would i be better of putting 2 plants in the 1 bucket or 1 in 1.

3) do you need to change the water.

any help will be good

Well I posted another thread with some of these questions and first of all, it is a good idea to get hydro nutes, and preferable organic. I went with the Technaflora Starter Pack, its a really good deal, will see how it turns out.
hydro nutes are helpful because they have ingredients implied for hydroponic use.

As for the second question, I think it is up to you. Unless you have feminized seeds, use only one, but the problem with doing 2 in one bucket is the roots entangling. Once entangled, it is very difficult to untangle without damaging or leaving dead roots which will rot and decay behind, meaning that both plants are pretty much stuck there for life and killing one means killing both.

Thirdly, I am hearing yes. I think if you can keep the water fairly cool and no bacteria or buildup issues arise you could leave it as long as is sensible for the health of the plants, but I am hearing that ppl change it usually at least once every two weeks.
