simple question

I had some 2" plants, unknown strain, grown inside that I put outside 8 days ago. They had no flowers visible to the naked eye then, and now I have some I think are male. What is the soonest a male could release, after starting 13/11 for flowering? I know one can't be too scientific about it, just a general idea would be nice. I am going to chop a few definites tomorrow, but I am wondering how long I can wait to confirm?

also, do the female preflowers ever appear as a group like the males?

Male will show first. 8 days is about right
Female preflowers look like two tiny white hairs coming out of the place were the branch starts.

and would you ever see a group of the female pear shaped pre-flowers? or is the grouping itself an indicator?
