I sometimes see what appears to be shedding of the outer layer of the stem, is it peeling off?

It may be. I was away for 4 days so couldn’t watch it.

Yeah looks like shedding, its normal

The stem tripled in thickness in 4 days for sure.

I always peel the cotyledons and the shedding piece off around this time.
