So I musta accidently planted two seedlings in one cup :oops:. They both sprouted and look ok, but I'm worried about what Im gonna do to transplant em. I know I can't have 2 plants in one pot, so I'm gonna have to split em up. How can I go about seperating them without destroying their root system?

kinda dig around the soil gently and try not to hurt the roots of either plants. when you move some soil away you should be able to see if its 2 little seedlings or one twin plant. make sure your hands are clean and good luck

Ok I went in and dug it out.. I hope I didnt damage anything. It had one tap root that was like 5 inches long. I just poked a deep hole into another cup and stuck it in there. Lets see if it survives

Saw the title of this thread... Thought the silly mistake was that you poo'd and vomited on your seedlings. :(

HAHAHAHAHAHA! Thought crossed my mind too!

But seriously, normally, if you don't cut the tap root, for most plants, regardless if it's cannabis or a cherry tree, it should normally be fine, maybe take a little longer to grow.

Here's an anology:

Tap root = Aorta
Roots = Arteries/veines
Rootlings = capilairies.

Chop the Aorta, you'll automatically kill your plant/creature.
Chop an arterie or vein, severly hurt it, but not always lethally
Chop a capilairie, and it'll be like if you took a paper cut.

if it's a plastic or paper cup simply cut the cup off the soil and gently seperate them then replant..nvm you got it..goodluck

cut the cup down the sides and shake out the root ball
Do this carefully
then fill up a 2 gallon pot to the top with soil
then dig a small hole in the middle of the dirt and put the seedling in
i would put 2 in a pot they still grow fine i mean look at my grow mines are 8 in. tall each i had them in a 8 in. pot
3 in 1! just moved a male out so took one out of the 3 and transplanted

Well shit, too late. I already followed the first guy's advice and just dug it out and put it in a new cup. We'll see what happens, its not dead yet. There wasn't much of a root ball persay, its only 4 days old.. there just looked to be a long white tap root, I probably tore the other small roots pulling it out :-?
