heya lads got a 150mm/6" intake-outtake and basically its too noisy trying to keep the neighbours thoughts at bay.. fan silencers work? i was thinking of putting the fans in boxes and having the boxes on the other side of the shed and muffle them with blankets etc in the boxes is it ok to do? not too hot? and if i was to have my fans a couple of meters from the room and run long ducting? few ideas come to mind just dont wanna waste time with methods that arent plausible cheers aussie-ryan

Fan mufflers do work, I use them... But also slowing the fans down a bit helps as well.....Do NOT use those piece if shit speedsters either... Look on ebay for a VARIAC... They don't produce a hum like those cheap ass speed controllers....Is your ducting insulated? I use that as well.....

ok well my set up is a 6 inch fan but i bought it in a pack with rhino acoustic ducting the ducting by its self helped 40% then i put it up in the loft inside a box with a few pillows around it (only used pillows as there was no spare insulation lol) its so good when i went up into the loft 2 weeks later i got scared and thought my fan wasnt running cos i can hear it through my air cooled light like i can hear it sucking not a major noise .... anyways when i went up there i never heard it i had to dig the fan out of the box and see if it was ok and it was lol so yeah thats my long ass story but bottom line get some acoustic ducting and box that fan in ! :-)

Look into a fan speed controller anyway bro, cause if the fan is moving the air too fast, it doesn't spend enough time in the carbon filter and makes it not as effective.
