if i'm at home, i'll hit refresh every few minutes, don't get hissy with people just cus they can sit around the house and smoke all day
anything you should change, yeah, plenty. for a start you want it in an enclosed box unless you know that your entire attic is sterile and free of any insects etc (is it an attic, i've read so many threads i forget). there's a start. don't grow until you've got a decent car built. even growing inside a trash can would be better than having an AG sat open in the middle of a most likely dusty room (you say it's not frequented a lot)
as to the seeeds, you need to germinate them, not pollinate. germinating is just getting it into life and getting the tap root going. pollinating is what happens when a mommy and a dadyd go wawaweewaaaaaaa and you end up with a whole bunch of seeds and crap weed
and again, might want to do a lot of reading, lots. i'm 7 weeks into my grow, i read for about 2 hours on the site every night, and i still can't explain half the things that are going on and such, so i can't see you performing any wonders yet.
