ive read a few posts on clones about trimming the bottom as it usually doesn't amount to much..

should you be trimming or lollipop style cropping and then getting some.height for bud.

what is a reasonable height before flipping if you are aiming for say 1-3oz plants

Thats a very vague question..
We need to know
Size of grow space
What strain/s
Grow medium being used
Time you plan to to veg them

If your only using a single plant for your grow then scroging will probably be best but if your running a few diferente varieties then you may want to top and train..

please give us more info
 
are your talking about pruneing popcorn buds off the bottoms of the branches when growing from clones?
as clone or plant would be the same.
never weighed my bud b4, so cant help on size per oz of weed
