Should Welfare Recipients be Forced to Perform Community Service?

Exactly why our chilluns are coming out of school unable to think for themselves, not to mention kinda dumb.
I can't think of a generation that hasn't said the same thing - and yet the folks seem to come out ok every time.

Are you a product of the public school system?

That's you problem canndo, you didn't understand what I meant because you automatically thought of government as being the teacher.

Hence, "self reliance" something government is incapable of teaching and you must be proof of that!
My parents got food stamps and were welfare for life recipients. I'm not on them. Just because parents are on them doesn't mean their children will be when they grow up. Without them, I'd not be alive right now being a wage slave for "YOUR" taxes. You should be saying fucking thank you. There are even more success stories like mine.

Without us, had we died, much to your chagrin, I know, your tax burden would be much higher. In essence, you're the one collecting welfare for our "success."

But have I once told you to go fuck yourself because you have more disposable income? If you been paying attention, you'd know it has been quite the opposite.

The little guy, like me, doesn't deserve a free ride, but does deserve respect. The poor are who own most of the wealth and the rich are along for the ride. You got the concept backwards.

The rich can't survive without the poor, and the poor can't survive without the rich. It's a symbiotic relationship. Both should respect eachother without saying either is taking its unfair share.

Beenthere,

So what you're telling me is you're in favor of repealing child labor laws?
What has a child done? They're innocent. But when they become adults and aren't innocent, was up to us. It has then become the opportunity forgone. You can either make sure our nation's children become useful or treat them like shit. Canna, are you are saying you are pro gay marriage, why would you want children to become extinct?

Your attitudes are why we are in this shit hole. Children are the future. Liberals want to kill them all with abortion, you want them gone from society's burden.

There are two groups a nation needs to protect. Those who get us there, children, and those who got us there, elderly. People aren't magically born with the means. What a great message their parents, the government and people like you are giving them. Hey, it's ok to be irresponsible like your parents because the American tax payers will step in and take up the slack!

People like you, the Ayn Rand cultists, on the one end, and the Bucky types on the far other end, disturb me.

It's not YOUR taxes, it's EVERYONE's taxes. Something both ends forget.
What you are saying is, let me worry about where and how your taxes are spent, you shut up and just keep that money rolling in.
And nah bro, it's my tax dollars, everyone else isn't chipping in when I have to write that check out.

Sure it makes sense, so would a daycare co/op comprised of community service volunteers.
But in your case and others like it, as long as you are trying to better yourself by working and putting yourself through school, I would call that an exception.
I'm not a fan of people taking a free ride thru life, but as a parent I wouldn't be comfortable with Joe the wino or Sally the crackhead potentially being responsible to watch over my kids. Having said that, I wouldn't be comfortable just getting free money from my fellow tax paying members of society and coasting thru a whole existence that way either. I'd be in favor of requiring education or job training for welfare recipients who are unable to find work.

LOL I pay more in state and federal income taxes than you gross in a year (the one year you legally worked)

I consider you as the scum of the world, you pay ZERO fucking income taxes, collect assistance and make money on the side. You don't contribute a damn thing to help people in need of any kind of government assistance, yet you pose as this ultra caring humanitarian. You're nothing but a phony who rides on the coattails of the people who really do care.

uh, I don't know if anyone has posted this but they do in California!

If you cannot get a job you work in community service for your benefits.

Those receiving state assistance in NM are required to do 32 hours of community service a week. I see nothing wrong with that. There are exemptions for age, physical abilities or things such as high BP, heart etc.

So I guess it can work, glad to see some states are now using some common sense. Something a few of these posters on this thread can't get through their ideological heads.

Does this make them trolls or fuckers? LOL

Oh my. I think you're seriously equating allowing gay marriage with the extinction of mankind. I have never seen a fallacious slippery-slope argument developed to such an extreme in a sentence and a half. cn

LOL I was being facetious, go back and read canna's off the wall comment on child labor and you'll see why.

How do i feel about you?
You shouldn't have assumed that you support my kid.
I get paid 70k+ a year. and i am un-married.
I get SCREWED on my taxes every year.
I think i paid $7,000+ in taxes last year. (i try to forget the actual number.)
I dont get shit back. I pay an extra $50 per payday, just so i dont have to pay hundreds at the end of the year.
It sucks even more if i have to pay the guy who tells me i got to pay this year.
While watching everyone around me married with kids getting $5k to $10k checks in the mail, and deciding what they are going to do with their thousands this year.

I pay child support, for my daughter, which i love to death.
But at the end of the year, i dont even get to claim her, or the child support on my taxes.
I even have to pay taxes on the money i never see.

So dont assume that i'm a freeloading.
i probably pay more taxes then you do.
how are you on welfare making 70k a year? you make more than twice what i do (on the books)and i only get to take home 72% of what i make.

you can always claim child support... Does his story sound real?
No, you can't always claim child support - only one parent can claim child deductions and if it is not an ajudicated decision, the first filer gets the deduction and the second gets a letterl from the IRS.
