Should my outlets ever get warm?

What's up guys/gals

So I'm doing some preliminary testing I my electrical that I've just installed..

I have a sub panel with a 15a and 20a breakers

I plugged in my 1000 watt for the first time for about 30 minutes and noticed that the outlet/box was warm to the touch... I'd say just a TAD warmer than my forehead in comparison.

Is this something to worry about?

Its a magnetic ballast, kind of old I think..

Also, I had originally wired the outlets from the back in the "pinch" slots and learned that it's not advised to do so, so I re wired them on the sides of the outlets and made a loop with each wire.
This helped a LOT with the heat, but now it seems to stay at a comfortable "warm" temp.

Any thoughts?

Normal...they all heat up...but I find that my magnetic stays cooler than my digital, but my magnetic ballast is sitting on a wire rack in a dark closet, where as the digital would have to sit on the floor...anyway we rigged up a few computer fans and just slid the digi ballast into an old computer case and put the fans all about...it stays really cool...where as we used to worry about having anything sitting near it...but the magnetic is like only slightly warmer than I feel...just as you said...

Warm is fine. As long as you can keep your hand on it; you are not using more than 75-80% of the rated load for that breaker; and you used the correct gauge wiring then you should be fine. Test it out in your house. Run your microwave or any other large appliance in your house for 30 minutes and you'll see that the outlet gets warm too.

You guys have no idea what a relief it is to read those responses! I'll keep an eye on it

Come to think of it, I've never felt the outlet to my microwave after using it.. Lol

Also, I've only run 600's in the past.. This 1000's ballast sure is loud! I guess I'll get used to it..

Keep rollin!
