Actually it doesn't stunt, they grow at the same pace everything else will. As long as it is connected to the stem it recieves nutes from the root system...the leaves are a storage system to sustain bud growth at flush, which is still given to the whole plant from the fan leaves and by that time foliage will have come back...just my experience

The fan leaves are where the plant gets the engery to even use the nutes. The less leaves on the plant, the less photosynthesis is occurring. That's the SIMPLE fact. Im sure we all remember photosynthesis right? Its what makes the plant grow, in case you forgot. Remember the whole taking in of co2 and exhaling of o2? The leaves do all that. Sure the plant will keep growing without the primary fan leaves, just not as well is it would had they been there.

I use the veg time to shape the plants and first couple of week in flower
after that I let the plant flower and grows all the leaves it needs but the plant is the best shape at this stage to use all the light

if this add a couple of weeks to the veg stage, its a lot better than lossing a few oz's in flower because of the shape of the plant

thanks i've moved them around so the tallest are on the outside and the shortest are directly unders the lights (there are 2 600watters) is that what you meant??
sorry about that all ways get the odd pick taking the piss and don't what there on about,
but will stay and help if you want me too, leave any question and I will do my best to help you

Yes but photosynthesis requires light to hit the leaves in order to do this process right? Like i said, its controversal and all depends on how you do it..i defoliate 2-3 times in flower usually.

I wish I had took some pic's last night but did't
I look at the plant and think what is the best way
so I have a tall 8" plant not much on the top 4" of the plant and fan leaves covering some of the bottom nodes

topping the plant at 4" and remove some fan leaves, now I have topped a plant once and got 11 main bud sites :)

give it a few days and lst the plant and I could have 11 realy good top bud sites
just need an extra flower room :(
