Should I stay in veg a full 60 days? And a few other things

This is my 1st time growing! 5 plants in a 120cmx600cm (slightly smaller, modified to fit cabinet) under a 600w viparspectra light. Seaweed foliar spray and canna a+b neuts. 1 x northern lights, 1 x critical, 3 x special queen, I thought these were nice easy beginner strains for me. So my main question is should it always be 60 days from sprouting until I put them on a 12/12? Also do I need to do anything before the switch, I saw one video where the guy put them on a full 24hr dark for a day before the switch? I did try to trim a load off the bottom of the plant also, you can probably see, would you take more off?

Veg isn't really a matter of time. It's more a matter of grow style. The bigger you want the plant to get, the more times you crop it, spread it, etc. the longer it takes the plant to recover from that, grow, and spread so the longer you need to keep it in veg.

They're looking good. If you're not going to do any more spread pruning, I'd flip to flower and let it ride.

Take pictures when you have your lights off, it's hard to see anything with them on. Secondly, return that light if you can, it's a piece of junk for the most part. Good for vegging, absolute shit for flowering. And that's coming from someone who owns two viparspectra 600s. I bought them on a whim and I honestly wish I had did more research and built some QBs/cobs. I've had several diodes burn out after less than 4 months of use.
As for switching to flowering, it's up to you like the others said. Really depends on how much you train them, 60 days is pushing it though because they can double in size after the stretch. Never heard of 24 hrs of darkness before switching to 12/12, but I have heard people say it before you chop. In my opinion it's just broscience.

I agree with the others I would go ahead and flip them. They seem like they are healthy and are a decent size.

24 hours of dark at the beginning of flower isn't nessecary, but it's not really broscience either. The plants won't begin to flower until they build up enough of the correct hormones. That build up happens in the dark period, and it gets reduced during lights on time. So when we switch to 12/12 it allows more of that hormone to build up and triggers the plants to transition to flower growth.

In the case of 24 hours of dark at the beginning of 12/12 it would in theory allow more of that hormone to build up initially to help encourage faster flower transition. It won't take actual time off your flowering period though.

Either way the difference is tiny and not really needed but shouldn't hurt anything.

Ahhh that's annoying, I will look in to building my own after this grow, thanks for letting me know bud

I will skip the 24hr of dark idea, as you say it's just unnecessary

For veg and bloom you just put both on? Yeah I've just had the veg one on this whole time and just switched the bloom one on now and turned the veg one off, is it better to keep both on then?
From what I've read, yep that's the way to go. Both switches turned on from sprout to harvest.

I want prepared for how much they actually stretch and fill out so quickly and they are still going lol I could have cut down veg time (5 1/2 weeks from sprout) by a week at least it seems and still filled my space
