When I lolli, I remove all shade leaves below the 5th or 6th node from the top of the plant or end of branch. I wait to strip growth in these areas until a week or 2 into flowering. Then remove anything that is small or in a bad location.

Avoid going above that 5-6 node rule and you should be okay.

Personally, when using a scrog net I trim off everything under it. Especially if there is a full canopy above the net. I hate popcorn buds.

I don't lollipop at all... just prune back big fan leaves blocking air and light. Only smoke the primary and secondary buds. Everything else goes in the bucket for bubble hash and then rosin... those popcorn buds are a pain to clean and smoke but they make great rosin!

I typically clear the lower half, but it really depends on lights and what strain you are growing. You are removing stuff that won't get adequate light to develop into big full buds, that's something you just learn to get a feel for. Large open sativas don't need much, small dense indicas need more, etc.

Looking at that I would clear out stuff up to your net and any little branches that don't look like they will grow above the net.

Yeah and leaving lower fan leaves will lead to popcorn buds as this photo of one of my old grows prove:

I grow big wide plants and shoot for about 1/4 to 1/3 of the way up, depending upon how tall they are. Enough for airflow, easy watering and to reduce any larfiness.

I judge it based on light penetration through the canopy.Anything under the pennetration level gets cut.

It depends on the plant I guess. Didn’t lollipop these plants and the buds coming off the very lowest branches are still great buds! Top buds are still getting plump too

@bigunyun what light do you have and how far away do.you keep it from.your canopy?
I have a California Lightworks SolarXtreme 1000 LED. It’s 800w. I always keep it at the very top of my 4x4x6 tent for the entire grow, I never move it. It’s a powerful light. Tent is much cooler that way, right next to the exhaust fan intake. :D
