my boss had them down to his arse had them for 8 years big thick ass ginger dreads he had to chop them off as they were actually pulling the hairs out on top!

Dude it's your life...go for what you want. Dreads can look fantastic or shitty no matter the race. Just take care of them, and you'll be good.

i work in the environmental field anyway. no one seems to discriminate except the older generation, but they are nearly gone...

Thanks for the all the advice, i still have a couple of inchs to go before i can get knotty.
