Should I follow lux meter or manufacturers recommendations?

Just wondering if I should follow the manufacturers recommendations for hanging height and power intensity or run the light at 100% veg 100% flower and use this cheap as lux meter to measure where to hang it? The light is a viparspectra par1200, 550ish watts actual draw and they recommend hanging at 44” with 60% veg and 30% flower. Any input appreciated, and I only have the lux meter, I’ll have to order a par meter or something online very soon.

Good to know, thanks. Is it a par meter that I am after then?
If you want find the right height for your light by using a meter, then yes. You can use the cheap meter to measure differences in light levels in your tent. It should give consistent readings between measurement points, but it will not be to scale when compared to other light sources. The cheaper par meters are actually lux meters with colour gels in front of the sensor to correct for the green weighting of the meter.
