I'm ABOUT to be a new grower and I've been looking at this AMAZING site for a few weeks now, mustering up the knowledge to produce my own mouthwatering plants. i plan to grow in my own personal closet 2.5 x 2.5ft OR a room in my basement. roughly 5 X 6ft

for my closet. should i buy these?

they are 3 high spectrum cfl @ 6500k and 3 high spectrum cfl at 2700

6 bulbs in all...comes with 3 grower reflectors.

Just curious of everybody's opinion.

and as for the plant...i have 5 white widows coming and ill grow some bagseed. not even concerned about growing more than 1 plant. Primarilly excited and ready to make this 3-4 month thing into a nice hobby.

Thanks!

if you have a decent area to grow in like the base ment or even the closet..dont play around with the cfls..look into hid..a 250hps would be awesome for that closet size...

U said u just wanna grow 1 at a time? The second rule about growing is- do not only start 1 plant. Simply because, it'd suck to put in all the time and effort into growing the thing, just to find out it's a male and u gotta start over. Personally, I like to use cfl's to veg with, great results:-P, but come time to flower, nothin can compare to the hps. Keep up on the homework though beforehand, it'll pay off bigtime down the road.

Ha ha, I agree. I was being over careful, germed 10 seeds, thinking they would not all make it. 8 are doing great so far, but I really only have enough room to flower 3-4. So I am now forced to veg a short time and flower early. My yeild should be the same tho, just smaller tighter nugs I guess....
And yeah, HPS is the way to go. Give LED another 10 years to develop, and they wil;l be a great option I believe. But right now, HPS is the most efficient use of light there is.

As a fellow new grower, I'd take richjames' advice. This is my second shot at growing and the first time I started out with just two plants ... one was a male and I accidentally killed the other one. So I'm starting over now. :o

I work on small grows myself, 3 plants is all i got atm... but luckily for me, I've yet to have any probs with seedlings dying on me. My current lowryders had me wonderin for a minute when they were little, one even tried growing it's first root ABOVE GROUND! Had to purposely stretch the plant and put in more dirt which took forever, but it all worked out, finally. Good luck to all u guys!:peace:

I was always comparing to the HPS lights as the lambo of growing bulbs... I just didn't know if it would be good for such a small size, especially for temperature and ventilation. So i wont go with all the fluorescents then....I'll just get an HPS bulb. Now as far as growing more than one plant, I've read up on some strategies to grow, specifically WW since its short and bushy. The Sea of Green method, has anybody ever heard or used this method before?

you will need a ballast, you cannot just buy the bulb and put it in,
many or should i say all except the 70 watt hps bulb has a mogul base which means it needs an extra large socket. but even the 70 watter needs a ballast

I have a 150watt hps bulb that WILL fit in a regular socket, but regardless, I need a ballast to run it, which needs to create a 4,000v pulse to fire it up. Point is, u need a ballast.
