You just started and you have a 3x3.....I'll watch for your next post in a couple months asking if the 8 is ok for a 5x5

I never even made it to flower with my first tent, packed it with the one plant due to reveg, said "Oh this isnt going to do at all" borrowed a 4.5x4.5x7 for the flowering. Been wanting to do another review ever since, maybe I’ll start clones from flower next time

I see people saying overkill but I was under the impression that running a bigger fan but at a lower speed is preferable if you care about noise, etc. But in general I'd expect it's letting the fan do the job without working as hard so that has to help with life expectancy for the motor/bushings/etc.

I'm a big fan of the new Controller so you can finally set a min idle fan speed. I just wish they had made it wifi instead of bluetooth. I use them for the grow and dry tent both.

That's true I run the 8 outside usually around 50%. I'm attaching a picture so you get an idea of why I personally say it is overkill. It is large. The ducting is bigger than most holes in 3x3 and if you're filtering.. it's huge. Aside from that I agree with what you're saying and for the majority of smaller tents a 6" fan turned down a little is the ticket.

You made the right decision. I use a 6 inch with a controller for my 3x3 but 4 inch will work fine.

I used to use an 8 inch to exhaust a 5x5 and a 2.5x2.5 at 60 percent power. Even on the lowest setting an 8 inch would be too much for a 3x3.

That is true to a certain extent. Even most 6 inch fans don't need to run at full power to exhaust even a 4x4.

Bigger isn't always better.

My t6 on 1 speed is more than enough for my 3x3. Tent sides are slightly pushing in, not much, but it is noticeable.

Those ac infinite fans seem to be one of the best out right now. When I found out about them I already had a brand new systemair rvk waiting to be used but I couldnt return it.

They are great fans and last for years but dont have the fancy controller so I just use it with a voltage stepping controller which is fine for my needs.
