They are not clones so have no way of knowing if i am growing a male tree or female tree until i 12/12.

Switch to 12/12 when they're half the size you want them to be when they're fully finished. Roughly.

this all depends on how much light penetration you have and how tall your ceiling of your grow area is after the space required for the light, if it's a sativa mix it could triple in size.

how old are the plants in question? The reason I ask is cause a plant can be sexed before 12/12 if it is old enough. At around 45 days, the plant will start to show its sex. It will be subtle but with a trained eye you will see the males and females. GL

The plant will double to tripple in size typiacally, so flip them to acccount for the extra growth. vegging to 4 feet would be plain madness unless you had an entire 8 foot tall spare bedroom to train it out over 
It would also be a biut counter productive unless you had thousands of watts, still wouldn't say no to doing it if i had the space though Thick stems arouse me

if plant is indica it will double at the firs 1/3 of flower, if it is sativa it can triple mixture based on percentage of each will dictate stretch
i grew some stretchy rez chemdog d x sour diesel , his suggestion was to grow to six nodes and top back to two nodes grow to 15 inches then flower
i have grown kali mist 90 % sativa they say flower at 12 inches or train, train is always a sulation and supercrop
