Should hps light intensity be reduced if plants leaves start tacoing aka curling upwards ?

Hey everyone I'm in a dilemma I'm in week 5 of flowering I've just noticed some leaves are starting to curl upwards I'm currently using the 600w hps I have adjusted the light a few inches higher up but now I keep thinking the light is too far and won't be as efficient and effective and will affect the photosynthesis trichomes yield etc wondering if I should dimm light back to 400w? Rh levels are about 50% plenty of air circulation etc but that damn hps on 600w creates so much heat to the point where I keep thinking I could stress my plants my last grow hemrothidited please not again lol .

my brother used to grow with 1k hps in a 4x4x6 tent we never had this problem but he would air cool his lights. so my question is, is your 600w hps air cooled? if not maybe you should consider air cooling it. :D. also if your lights are having heat stress issues on 600w i would dim it too 400w.
the problem we did have in this tent was the buds on tall plants would turn white due too the light intensity which would suck :(

No not air cooled sounds good tho I grow in a 120×120×200 I have 6 plants okay but will 400w be enough? And will it be able to create nice potent buds? And white bleaching sounds really bad will I be able to turn it back upto 600w? Or will I have to just stick and finish with 400w and thanks for the advice bro

400w in a 4x4ft tent is not enough especially with HID lights you need the 600bro can you put a fan in between your light and the top of your plants? or buy a air cooled reflector asap on amazon for 50 dollars and a centrifugal fan and some ducting asap
400watt's in a 4x4ft tent is 25watts per square foot that is super low your yield will suffer

I have two 7' oscillating clip fans and one 6'oscillating clip fan /one in each corner of the tent just above the canopys also one floor fan and one 11' pedestal oscillating fan I wish I could but unfortunately I don't have an intake fan because of security and privacy issues I can't open the window in the room I'm growing in so I keep the door open which is kinda not far from
a small window would adjusting the 600w higher up a few inches help?

When I think back 30 years with 2000W of Son-T's, that themselves seemed miraculous at the time, it's hard to imagine that it's even worth running HPS even if it was given to me for free. So much heat and so many Watts all in one spot. I'm sure people have their reasons but damned if I can see any.

How close is the light?

Your temps are about right on. Some like it to be even a bit warmer than what you have it. 27c is 80.6f. All but a perfect temp. In reality, and to a certain point. Higher light levels, require higher ambient air temperatures. And the higher the light level, the more need for fresh air supply, or CO2, and unless you have an enclosure, thats 100% air tight, and no leaks CO2 is beneficial. But in most cases, it just goes out the nearest crack, or hole, and is useless. CO2, will navigate to any area, that it can escape from.

Sometimes a large amount of resin production on the leaves, can make them taco. Not saying thats what yours are doing, but it is one thing, other than light intensity, that can cause tacoing.

It would be nice to have a photo.

I would find a way to get more air to them. Can you open the tent when lights on?? If you can, Id open the tent, and put a box fan, or some kind of fairly powerful fan outside of the tent, pointing to inside the tent. Id get air to it any way I can. Weed really only requires a few basic needs. Best to keep things simple. Weed basically needs correct medium. Proper fertilizer. Good temperature. Knowlege of how, and when to water. Supply constant fresh air supply. Give plants strong light. 7 basic needs is about all they require. Deviate from any of them, and quality, and production, will suffer.

Would really be nice to have a photo. Plus need to know how far the light is away from the top of the plants. Id raise the light, before I would dim it. Also a 600w, is really best used in a 3 x 3.
When they first came out with HID in 77-78, they always recommended a 1000w in a 4 x 4 area, and a 600w in a 3 x 3. A 1000w in a 4 x 4 is 62.5w sq/m, and the 600w is 66w sq/m. I see consumers using a 600w in a 4 x 4, but the factory, someone like Hortilux, recommends 600w in 3 x 3 and 1000w in a 4 x 4. And when Gavita came out with the 1700e, ( 645w LED ) it was recommended to replace a 1000w HID in a 4 x 4 area. 40.3w sq/ft. Will a 600w grow plants in a 4 x 4? Yes, but the best stuff, will be within the 3 x 3 area.
