They already do... EBT. WIC and some others.

But to answer your question. No. Food should not be a right. If you have a right to food then someone (including the collective we) aquires a duty to provide you with that food.

What do you think should be a right? Healthcare, education, national defense, etc.?

I think food should be a right and I think most people would agree with me

How can I live my life if I can't eat? How can I enjoy liberty if me and mine go hungry? How can I pursue happiness with an empty belly?

The basic necessities required to fulfill Constitutional rights in and of themselves are natural rights.

Should the government have a program that provides food for people who can't provide it for themselves?

Why/why not?

No...

The rights as defined in the constitution are protections against government interference, not promises of free giveaways.

And why not, because it is wrong to take something from one person and re-distribute it to another based on need. Need is infinte... You are benefiting the non-producers by punishing the producers for being successful.

I've never been in a situation as a child or as an adult when I've gone hungry because there was no food in the house.
Both my parents worked to provide for their 3 kids as my wife and I do so we could provide for our 2 kids. I've always thought that if a person can't provide for themselves why bring a child into mix.
It's gotten to the point that company's around here are filling back packs with food and giving it to low income kids. When school is out for an extended period of time . To make up for the fact they aren't able to receive the free breakfast and lunch that they would receive if school was in session.
I guess this is something that Trump probably has an idea about !

@Padawanbater2

Please stock your refrigerator for my arrival today. Change the sheets on your bed too, you can crash on the couch until I decide to go elsewhere. Don't forget to get me a key to your apartment.

I shall require daily

1) a six pack of bass ale
2) a healthy salad
3) a large steak, medium rare
4) 3 different steamed vegetables
5) Blueberry cobbler and vanilla ice cream

6) The use of your car and some pocket money
7) I prefer sativa, but I'll smoke anything decent.

What are you waiting for? Hop to!!

And gunz.

Hunger is a great motivator/captor.

I love what the CEO has to say @ 11:05 "this is not good thinking".

Why not grow your own? Most people have a backyard, front yard, or space to grow indoors. If everyone grew something different....well im sure you can figure it out. Grow food not lawns.

The government is developing a dependent society as demonstrated on this website. I teach people about how to start your own businesses and I it like I am kicking puppies or something!!

If you ask Padwan, food comes from the government, not from the ground!!

I don't disagree with that. Surely they will make it illegal at some point to grow your own food. Why wait until it's illegal. Everyone should have a garden is all I'm saying. Not referring to the majority of the gardens on this site, tho nice I don't believe you can live off that diet alone

People should be free to do what they want. I live in a desert and I do not like gardening.

Unfortunately, the government teaches dependence, conformity and that the solution to everything is more government.

Believe it or not, in many places around our nation local ordinances and neighborhood covenants actually do act to prohibit the growing of food on one's own property.

In addition, how does an apartment dweller grow enough food to do anything significant?

Food is a basic human right. Starving the masses has rightly been seen as a regime ending mistake for thousands of years; even Caesar knew this and subsidized bread and circuses when Rome's Senators refused to feed them.

THAT'S actually what made him so popular that the Senate had to assassinate him to regain power.

History; read up or repeat it.

Plenty of desert growers...John kohler of growing your greens, jake mace, and many more.

No comment on goverment. They know best and we the people elect them. Everything is awesome, when you are part of the team.
