Should all incumbent politicians be required to reveal their taxes?

I know this topic probably seems motivated by the kerfuffle over Romney's taxes, but it isn't.

I genuinely believe every elected official's full tax return, federal and state, should be posted publicly and subject to the voters' scrutiny.

I do not.

The IRS is in control of whether taxes were paid correctly, etc. We dont need an armchair tax analyst convention every 4 years.

If you mean every elected official making their tax returns available every year then I'm all for that. If we can see that Pelosi or Boxer helped push a bill through that made millions for their relatives maybe we'd have less of that.

Yes, that is exactly what I mean. Every year. Every federal politician. Every line of every tax filing, federal and local, completely divulged to the public.

I'd be ok with that. I was watching an episode of 60 minutes the other day that said something along the lines that congress is allowed to conduct in insider trading. Getting rid of that as well would be nice.

I believe they should show their tax returns

I do beleive a bill was up for vote making all stock holdings of congressmen public knowledge

Anyone remember Cantor shorting US treasuries and at the same time doing everything he could to get our credit downgraded?

Government needs to be as accountable as possible and held up to the highest standards, when they aren't this breeds corruption and attracts only evil people.
