Shotgun chamber with airstone?

So, I'm pleased to see that my PF cakes are already about half colonized, the UB bags are slow as hell.
The vermiculite I ordered was coarse, so it seems like the mycelium is moving through it quickly.
After doing some more research, it seems like most people use fine vermiculite. Does vermiculite size really matter as long as the ratios are correct?

So my idea to make the shotgun chamber low maintenance was to add a hygrometer and stick a jar of water with an airstone in there. I sure as hell won't be able to spray and fan 3 times a day with my schedule, so I though the airstone could move air and add humidity. I have a nice adjustable air pump and a short interval timer to play with.
I could run the chamber 24/7 on a low speed or run on high with a cycles like 15 minutes on, 2 hours off or 3 minutes on, 20 minutes off. I have no idea what would be optimal, so I could just FAFO.

you can connect it to a humidity controler and set it to desired bottom and top humidity on amazon 20$ i think.you just cut the wires from your plug and screw them on the automatic
when i tried to grow mushrooms the little airpump in glass of water worked it just did 100$ humidity and it started raining inside

Pasty's "EZ dial monotub tek" is the best way to make the tubs now. All you have to do is simply drill a certain configuration of small holes on the sides and ends, and shouldn't have to do anything else as it should provide the perfect environment automatically as is. Maybe tape a few holes up depending on your environment if it dries too fast, etc.

Just set and forget as long as you got the correct feild capacity and water content of whatever substrate.. All you need with cubensis is coir and water to mix with your UB bags or even the pf jars at either a 1:1 - 1:4 ratio when you spawn them to bulk. Maybe use some of the vermiculite added in if the batch is a little wet when you do the squeeze test.

Shotgun chambers have been phased out for way easier monotub methods like this now:

Here's a pretty good way to go about it. No need to fan or mist. Make up some shoe boxes first, and then fruit them out inside the EZ dial monotubs.

You could skip the shoe boxes, and just use the bottom of the ez dial tub with a liner and mix everything into one big cake (including the pf cakes, and get better yeilds), but having smaller shoeboxes to act as trays is nice IMO.

Coarse is the best. Ot affords the mycelium the tiny nooks where primordial are most likely to form.
